I Go Back and Read Old Journal Entries

How do you feel when you read old entries? 189 People

    It's Really Fascinating

Sometimes I go back and read old journal entries both here in EP and in my actual diary. Oddly enough, most of the time I'm having difficulty to recognise myself from them especially if they are really old entries. I guess it has something to do with the personality being in...

    Important Stuff

All of the greatest truths I have discovered in my life have come through journaling about life experiences.  Sometimes its easy to forget these truths without going back and reading about them.  I wouldn't be who I am today without a journal.

So my dad is moving across country from

California to North Carolina. He just stopped off here in Texas to see me and while he was here dropped off a box of my old art books and journals. I'm about to go through them. I'm excited to see

    About To Toss Them Out...

I have some old journals that make me feel bad when I look at them, and I'm tempted to throw them away. However, I've done this in the past and regretted getting rid of the information I had. I'm not sure if I should back them up digitally, keep them, or toss it all together...

Who I Was And Who I Am.

I've been writing diaries since I was 8 years old. I always read back when I'm bored. They're who I am and I love them.It makes me laugh to see the little girl that thought she was all grown up at 12 years old, the 8 year old excited about her toys... It makes me sad to see how...

I Wouldn't Give Myself The Time Of Day

When I go back and read my diaries from middle and high school, I can't believe how much I've changed. And it's funny cause I think if I met my younger self, she'd kick my ***. Sometimes I really find myself torn between past and present. When I was younger, I was a very cold...

I had a really hard childhood, my mom had cancer, I used to self injure, my Dad was abusive, I had a hard time with drugs. You name it I dealt with it. And I dealt with it a lot by writing. Either short stories, poems or true journal entries. My life is much better now almost 12...

    I don't do it often,

but if I do I have sticky notes and then I write the year and made a small comment on what I thought about that entry. Then a few years later I can see what happened and what I thought about it. Like for instance one entry this girl said she did it with some guy so I was like...

    Yes I Do!

I've been keeping diaries for a few years now... Sometimes I look back and read through my old entries when I'm bored or just curious... I can't believe some of the stuff I wrote really. I really hate reading my old diaries most of the time.. they make me feel depressed.

    Looking Back At The Past...

I do from time to time look at past entries from my journal...and realize how different things are now...and the expectations that I once had...my growth has been noticeable...but there are still goals and milestones I'd like to achieve...

Kept Diaries Off And On Since I Was 7

Amazingly I still have most of them. It's not often I go back and read, a lot of time it's painful, but occasionally I do. Some of these journals from my preteen and teenage years are from the roughest times of my life, and it breaks my heart to read them. I was in a lot of pain...

    My Inner Soul

I refer to my journals as my “inner soul.”  It is the place where I express the real me openly and completely.  Some days the entry may be only a word, and other days it is many pages long but my journals are my best friends in many ways because they allow me to talk about...
