    Is 6 Classified As Large?

I grew up in a family of 5 boys and 1 girl. My mother always wanted 5 boys, but was graced with one girl. Unfortunately, my sister (who was 3 years older than I) passed away at 6 years old due to a severe case of pneumonia and an irregular heartbeat. I really miss her :( We...

    Respectfully Sized.

I guess it's not large compared to breeders like 19 Kids and Counting, but I grew up with 3 siblings. My father grew up with 2 siblings, and my mother grew up with 4. Only recently did I take a step back and realize how large my family is. With cousins, cousins babies, and...

    The Brady Bunch?

After my mom left my dad, she met Jeff, who had 4 kids of his own, 3 girls and a boy. Add that on to my twin sister, and my two little brothers, well, that's alot! And then, they decided they wanted one together, which turned out to be twins. After that, my mom said 10 was more...

    My Parents

I wrote the following in 1997 - while my parents were still alive.  Now they have both passed away.  I miss them both very much - this pretty much describes my life in a big family. I suppose it has always been this way in life—as we look backwards it is quite...

I grew up with my mother

and father going away to make money; mainly in the mining business. My mom generally cooked for the camps and my father did(and still does) the mining. I lived with 7 sisters, a widowed aunt that had 3 daughters, so I was basically the only boy in my family.

In a Large Family Each Member Has a Role

There have been studies delineating the superior intellect of the "first born."   Clearly there is both nature and nurture at work.  I guess a tangential idea here is that standard intelligence tests may not adequately measure sociability of their...

1 of 7 kids here and I LOVED it.

I can't imagine being an only child or only 1/2 siblings. It was (still is) great having so many siblings (and cousins)
