I Grew Up On a Farm

A little nostalgia for the childhood farm... 268 People

Up until grade 5 I lived right next to a cow

farm. The neighbours also had chickens and a goat, I'd help them out with the animals sometimes.

I Grew Up On One, And Still Live On It.

I am one who HATES city life with a passion.  For me personally, there's just nothing there, and way too many people.  You can't meander around looking at the sky or spot a tiny flower or insect or watch the clouds go by: it's go, go, go in the city.  You can...

The first time I went to a llama farm I fell in

love. His name is Carl, talk about love at first sight. Carl and I are married now and live on my llama farm. Yes, Carl is a llama and wears hats. Do you think this is strange? I don't, I never doubt our love and you guys shouldn't either.

I Despair of Meeting My Goal.

With so few people on Experience Project who have even grown up on a farm, how can I meet my goal of finally finding someone like myself?  I doubt it's possible.  I've found only one person in my life, but I can't access her anymore.  And she didn't even grow up on...

Growing up on a farm was great,

as a kid I could let my mind roam free and I could always entertain myself, as I got older I became for lack of a better term socially awkward. It gets pretty lonely living on a farm but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

My parents owned dairy cattle, sold goats, and grew strawberries in the spring. And then I was born, and the animal farm started falling apart. Cows and goats were sold, but my ma was able to hold onto the horse she owned. She taught my brother and I how to ride western and...

I'll Go Back To Farm Life One Day

We had goats, horses, chickens, peacocks, and dogs.  At a few points, we threw in some ducks, turkeys, and pheasants--and wild cottontails.  We had our dad catch a couple wild ones and they were PISSED.  They squealed like none other. We used to ride our f**kin...

    Our Home

It wasn't a big working farm just our own little small holding, we had chickens, ducks, turkeys, a horse and pigs. It was the most amazing childhood a child could have!

It was the farm that my ancestors got

when they first arrived in New Zealand around 1850. I was the fifth generation of my family to grow up on that farm. It was a wonderful childhood; I can't imagine any better way to grow up. I had a herd of angora goats as pets and hundreds of acres of space to explore. My...

When we were kids we used to play in this small

1 acre woodland/rubbish tip. It was completely surrounded by a rough council estate but was unknown to the bad kids. We used to spend every summer there building various dens and cutting back the brambles, we found hidden away in the undergrowth some stone foundations and a...

    Mornings In the Spring

We used to have a lot of fun on the farm. Sold fishing worms to the store in town, and went fishing at the creek. Used to pick the corn when it was little, and eat it raw. Sweetest corn I ever had until the new variety Peaches and Cream hit the stores. Used to pick apples off the...

    Farm Life

Up until I was the age of nine I lived on a farm. My grandfather owns a small farm about ten acres. He had goats, cows, pigs, chickens, peacocks and dogs. I would see him AND hear him all the time every morning doing some kind of work around the house whether it was plowing the...

    I remember being the kid

who would wake up at 6:00 am, and watch the beautiful sunrise in summer. You could hear the tractor, smell granny's biscuits, and run in the fields. At nights, you can hear the frogs singing their summer night lullaby.

I grew up on a dairy farm and had learned how to care for animals and all the responsibilities that come along with that.  I have so many funny memories during that time and it helped make me who I am today.  Although I would never do it again,  as an adult...LOL...

Yep, and sometimes I had to help sows give

birth to pigs if one got stuck. It was hilarious trying to watch my then boyfriend try to scoop up pig cleanings with a shovel and I just came over and picked it up with my hand. :P Hey, I can shower afterward.. and believe me, I did. Sometimes I would be covered in pig poo from...

So I guess it was so much of a 'farm', being that we only had one kinda animal.  When I was younger my mother gave me a sheep though.  That stupid thing used to torture me.  It used to find me wherever I was on the farm and just start head butting me like crazy...

Today was very interesting for me. As a girl growing up on our family's ranch in Texas, there are some early morning chores me and my siblings take care of. Lynsey (10) and me (13) woke up at 4 am to herd the cattle. Normally, this is Luke's (15) job, but right now, he is...
