I Had a Homebirth

    Homebirth

If I would get pregnant, I think I would prefer a homebirth. I was also told, it is not a good idea for the first time experience. I guess, if I get there, I'll decide then (home or hospital).

    My First Baby

I was very naturally drawn to home birth when I was pregnant with my daughter. I had seen my brother born at home, and had several midwife friends. I had a very long labor, about thirty hours, and pushed for about two hours. At one point, my baby's heart tones dropped, and one of...

    Breech Homebirth After Cesarean

My first was a "necessary" cesarean, more for Dr. fatigue than any medical emergency. I thought that reading "What to expect when you're expecting" made me educated about birth.  I was wrong.I had a horrible pregnancy with my second, suffering hyperemesis gravidarum (extreme...

    Three Homebirths And Counting

I've had three homebirths so far.  But I'm not your typical homebirther.  I am overweight, have high blood sugars, deliver big babies (over nine pounds), live 35 minutes from the nearest hospital, and am a VBAC-er (my first baby was a cesarean).  I'm pregnant with...

    My Second Homebirth - A Non-invasive Birth

On April 25th 2012 the day just before his do date at 11:35AM, Noah James  was introduced into this world in my bathtub! I fell in-love with this 8pound hairy fella. His non-invasive birth went quick and almost pretty. Almost because our toilet got plugged early that morning...

    My Oldest Child

It's been 16 years since I gave birth to my first child, at home...since then I've had two other children, both highly medicalized births in hospitals, but out of necessity.  My son's birth was a wonderful event that will always seem like it was yesterday.  I am...

All three of my sons were born at home,

with a midwife, as planned (2002, 2008, 2010). I have never had a VE during labour. I have never had pain relief during labour. I have had 2 water births. My longest labour was 6 hours. My smallest baby was 9lb 11oz (4.4kg). I've never had any tearing during birth. I feel...

Thank You For Starting This Group

I was about to the other night and got side tracked... My son't home birth was the most amazing experience I'll ever have, possibly his as well haha. Seriously, I remember almost every second, so much more than my first child's hospital birth, and hers was several days longer...

    My Second

When I was pregnant with my son, I took a hypnobirthing class to try and avoid the long labor I'd experienced with my daughter's birth. Three weeks before his due date, we had a big co-ed family baby shower at our house. That night, my water broke. My midwife gave me instructions...

The Wildest Party Ever At My House

My daughter is now a year and a half old. She's happy, healthy, and was born at home. It was a long labor. (I can't remember exactly how many official hours it was... I'm sure my wife does though.) The first signs of labor started on a Friday and progressed slowly. The...

    My Homebirth With Jonathan Gabriel

On January 6th, 2009 at about 9:30 a.m. I went to visit my favorite coffee shop, as always. When I sat down, I noticed what I thought was just another Braxton Hicks contraction. Less than twenty minutes later, I felt another one. It was pretty painful, so I thought I'd try to...
