    Against My Will

So when I was in 9th grade one of the teachers came to the conclusion that because I read sci-fi novels I mustn't be able to tell the difference between reality and fantasy. To make things better, a friend reported seeing cuts on my arms and before I knew it I was being forced...

    Is It Worth It?

I recently started online counselling on Kooth, which seems to be a site I have hoped for for a long time. It's taken a long time to realise I need help, and finding Kooth which means I don't need to face my fears of open counselling, is a huge relief. However, I think I saw...

    Most of My Life

I had been back and forth to therapy, for most of my life, dealing with my Social Anxiety and Depression. The first time I had therapy was when I was 15. And it didn't help, just made things worse! That was a year of medications that were bad for me and therapist who had no idea...

I had counselling for 1 year to help with my depression. I really liked my counsellor and it helped to have someone to talk to. Of course it didn't take any of my problems away but I felt she understood me better than anyone else and I told her basically everything from my past...

How I Got Interested In Counselling

One day when I walked into the living room, I noticed that my partner at the time was sitting very close to the TV. I said to her that she needed her eyes to be tested. She went to the optician who through their tests but they could not find anything wrong. She was referred to a...

    I Gave Up On Counseling.

Since I turned 5 years old until this year, I went to counselling. I gave up on counselors. They're so stupid. The only one I did like and look up to was my school counselor all of elementary school. I owe her a lot of my life. I wish I could meet her again, but I'm 65...

    It's Nearly Over.

I've had counselling for nearly a year because my insecurities were taking over my life. My last session is the week and I am excited but scared of being 'alone' again.

Somehow I Fell Apart Within A Few Short Months

It's the start of 2012 and everything was going well for me. My small business was growing as expected, I was getting more hours from my part time job, which allowed me to continue to pour more money into the business and expand it. Fast forward to late March/ early April and I...

    The Goal of Counseling.

A comment on a friend's story led me to write about what counseling did for me. This was my personal experience with my therapist and what I learned from her guidance.  My  therapist was recommended to me by my family doctor and we were a great match from the start but...

    Changed My Life

    No Biggie

My older half-sister (older by 8 years) suffered from depression as a teen and eventually started to use drugs. My dad struggled with this for a long time, and when I turned 13, he got me a psychologist to "nip things in the bud", basically. I really liked my...

    A Couple of Times

I was in counseling when I was having panic attacks about getting onto a plane for a trip to Europe in '92.  I got on the plane, so in one sense the counseling succeeded, but it brought out a ton of issues with my folks, since they volunteered to participate, too. Then...
