I Had Natural Childbirth

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 218 People

Pain relief through medication was not an option for me. Instead of getting an anaesthetic or epidural I tried to assist my body by mind-focus, breathing and changing positions. I was mentally and emotionally ready. The pain of pushing my boys out was truly excruciating. There is...

    Natural Childbirth

I give my hat to everyone who had a natural childbirth.  I saw show's on TV and oh my gosh, the pain they go through.  These women have power to resist.  Alot say; they wouldn't trade what they did cause in the end, they got their gifts and don't regret doing it that way.If I...

    New Years Baby!

New years eve, three days before the due date, at friend of a friends house, feeling rather strange and terrified I was going into full labour then, constantly visiting the loo to have my own little freak out, then convince myself I'm not, that when it happens I really will know...

    Too Much

My sister-in-law is expecting her first baby and is now overdue, which means of course, that she will be induced if she doesn't deliver in the next few days. It's made me think back on my own labors, both of them induced as well, and my decision to not have an epidural. For any...

    Well It Is More...um...natural.

I am way more afraid of being cut open than I am of something my mom did 4 times. It was intense, and exhausting, but I was lucky, and it didn't take very long for me (7 1/2 hours all together). I didn't have any drugs, either. I just wanted to concentrate. It was weird how...

My first birth was absolutely horrible.

I didn't think I could say no to the doctors and let them do way too many interventions. It left me hating my birth and so scared the next would turn out the same. I started wising up and doing my own research and learning all I could. My second birth was not exactly what I...

I Wasn't Even Sure I Was In Labor

On the day my baby was born, I thought I was just nauseous again. But it couldn't be labor because someone told me that labor was so painful you couldn't even talk through a contraction. So I called off work and went out to breakfast but I still felt sick... every 10 minutes. I...

It Wasn't As Bad As I Imagined!

I was very scared after seeing a lot of TV programs and documentaries of screaming women. When i got to the hospital to have my daughter, it didn't help that there was another woman screaming like she was being murdered, so i started to get a bit scared.I guess for some people it...

    Home Is Best!!

I wanted to have both my kids naturally, but the first was not in quite the right position and the labour was so long and painful because of that. The hospital was just 5 mins down the road, so the midwife drove me down there since I was so fatigued and dehydrated and not...

Love My Son, But Never Agian

I had 10 hours of natural childbirth, and even though I love my son more than anything in the known universe I would never do it again!  I could have had a epidural, but I'm terrified of needles!  My contractions started at 2 minutes apart and stayed that way the entire...

    Natural Was Best For Me...

I had a text book pregnancy with lots of pre-natal visits due to my weight at the time. I had no complications, except for some muscle tearing... I guess my uterus was having issues supporting a baby. Went to bed, normal late night, felt perfectly fine, normal in every way. 6 a.m...

To Me the Best Way to Go

I have had four children.  My first was a C-section and the last three were natural. I think that the natural way is by far the easiest way.  It is less painful and goes faster. The best adivse I can give is to really learn to breathe and focus.  Clear your mind...

    Not Because I Wanted To!!!!!!

    It's Better For the Child

It's actually better for you to have a natural childbirth as 70% of babies who are delivered by caersarean DIE. It was on my local radio news this morning. Shocking isn't it???

I haven't had my baby yet, but plan on giving birth naturally and in water with a midwife in a birthing center! I cannot wait! I am definitely excited that there is a support group for this sort of this even though its not specific to women going to have natural births. Its nice...
