I Had Speech Therapy

    When I Was 4...

I went to occupational therapy for my speech and to develop my upper body strength because I was born 2 months early. That was just about my entire 4th year. I stuttered all the time. I'm glad I'm not the only one. :)

I used to have a speech impediment along with a

stutter and a Louisiana accent. The accent is worth mentioning because I was born and raised in California. I sounded like a mix of Elmer Fudd, Mushmouth, and Porky Pig. I was put in speech therapy in the first grade. According to my speech therapist I couldn't properly...

Everyone is always asking me what my accent is, but the truth is I was born in my country of residence (Canada). While it is true my parents were from England and have English accents, I only lived there one year myself and my sisters, also born in Canada, do not have accents...

My name is Sarah and I was born with hemifacial microsomia, meaning that one side of my face is smaller than the other. Sometimes it paralyzes people but I was fortunate enough not to have been born like that. Anyway, I had difficulty saying my "s/sh"s for a long time and went to...

Insparation For Me To Keep On Doing What I Do!

When I was three-years-old, my mother, accompanied by the Beatles ‘Drive My Car’, drove me to Nancy. Nancy was a tall woman with crazy black hair. We played games that prompted me to say my ‘trouble’ sounds. When these words came up, she would pause the game, and drill me...

It was hard. I did it from ages 3-7.

I still can't hold a decent conversation I just rant on about what I want to say. It hasn't always been easy. No doubt I wasn't the cool kid in school. I don't stutter thank god.

When I was 4 years old.

I guess it didn't work because I was still stuttering at 5/6/7 years old. I still do sometimes today, actually. It's more of a problem when I'm excited about something or worked up.

    Sh - S

I mixed "s" and "sh" up all the time as a kid. Most of the time it wouldn't be a problem, but there are some words that have different meanings, depending on the s/sh. So I had speech therapy in kindergarten. I had those cards that had pictures of things...

:/ This post is going to make me uncomfortable

but posts like that are what this community is for. So here goes. When I was little, I had problems with many sounds. So I was put into speech class. I was in there from Pre School to 7th Grade. I learned all my sounds except for a couple. I was taken out for some unknown reason...
