Fresh Poster | on 12:46AM at Jan 30th, 2008 i'm curious as to how many of you are vegetarian.
i watched http://www.petatv.com/veg.html and have turned veggie (not saying that anyone else should) as of right now.
also, what constitutes being a vegetarian? is seafood included? can i wear leather?
i can't even believe stuff like this happens. |
| Fresh Poster | on 11:45PM at Mar 20th, 2008 Hey there, good for you! Here's a link to order a free vegetarian started guide and it will answer all your q's and help you with ur new lifestyle. http://goveg.com/order.asp I also, after recently learning about the horrible abuse in factory farms, have become vegetarian and am going vegan next. vegans don't wear leather, no. A great website full of info for you is www.goveg.com
Good luck, let me know how you made out! |
| Fresh Poster | on 11:41AM at Mar 25th, 2008 Well I'm not a vegan, but looking and seeing how things like this are done to helpless animals every day almost makes me want to give up meat forever. But then again, I think if God wanted us to be vegetarians he wouldn't have made beef and chicken taste so damn good. |
| Fresh Poster | on 10:56PM at Mar 25th, 2008 If you're going to eat meat, the least cruel way is to get it labeled "free range". |
| Fresh Poster | on 04:02PM at Apr 5th, 2008 My cousin told me about peta.com, and the videos on it. I first went to it a year or so ago, and now I go on that site every now and again; they give you the opportunity to write letters protesting all sorts of animal cruelty going on around the world. A little bit helps right? The videos I'd say have had the biggest impact on me. I've been trying to go vegetarian because of them. I've had some chicken now and then, and a little bit of fish, but otherwise I'm trying to stick with veggies; anything that causes such fear, suffering, and pain, just so I can say "mm that was tasty," is just not worth it. |

Graphic, but it's a sad reality. |
| Fresh Poster | on 05:33AM at Apr 21st, 2008 i dont mean to be mean lol, or upset anyone but being a vegitarian doesnt stop animals being killed for meat, in fact is more likely that you are making it so that animals die un-nessarily.
because the meat your not buying is being thrown in the bin.
there goes a chicken died in vain, in one shop, and they'll be fifty more in other shops in town, personly if the animal is killed humanely i have no problem eating it.
i would rather eat it, than have it die for no purpose at all such as to sit in a shop for so many days before being cast in the bin.
it nature, you eat to survive, and eating meat is natural to us, whats wrong is killing for fun, killing more than you can eat.
id have no idea how healthy it is never to eat meat, but as i understand it you'll eat eggs, well the egg your eating should have been a chicken but wont be because it has been boxed up for you to eat, i never understood the logic in that, its ok to kill something before it become properly an animal, and fish dont count, what dont they feel pain, and when you think about it, even veg is a living thing, i mean it grows doenst it.
ok i know you hate people like me, but all i am saying is my personal appion i actually have great respect for you for doing something you believe in, but i am just explaining why i dont believe in it.

| Fresh Poster | on 04:48PM at Apr 21st, 2008 I'm not a vegitarian, I was for a while back in high school on a bet with a friend as to who could be the longest, and I won. But I don't eat a lot of meat and the stuff I do I know the farm it came from and how those animals lived.
My family raised cows, chickens and pigs when I was growing up so as odd as it sounds I had a relationship with my food that most people never get. |
| Fresh Poster | on 03:31PM at Apr 29th, 2008 Im veggie and have been so for around...2 years?
i hope that i will never give up on it.
its great really, and the veggie food is AMAZING. |
| Fresh Poster | on 03:39PM at Apr 29th, 2008 I completely disagree with the statement that not eating meat means that the animal will have died in vain. If there is a decreassing demand for anything the prices drop and this means that the supply drops. Basic law of economics. |
| Fresh Poster | on 09:42PM at May 3rd, 2008 I totally agree, Fresh Poster. And even now, because there are so many meat eaters, animals will be killed still, but by not buying/eating, you are taking a stand and not supporting animal cruelty. |
| Fresh Poster | on 09:45PM at May 3rd, 2008 Oops, I mean I agree, WyldHoney. |
| Fresh Poster | on 04:20AM at May 14th, 2008 I despise cruelty to animals, but I don't believe that not eating meat is going to put an end to it.
I was a veggie for some time in my youth, but, even though I took supplements, the no meat diet made me ill. I became severely anaemic and tests revealed that I was seriously lacking in protein.
Conscience is a fine thing, but not at the cost of one's health. |
| Fresh Poster | on 10:16PM at May 17th, 2008 You were missing out on a lot of vegetarian protein sources then. Today there is an unlimited amount, such a variety of protien packed meatless options that are really tasty too. You should check them out~ |
| Fresh Poster | on 04:19AM at May 18th, 2008 Tried all manner of veggie protein supplements, but nothing had any effect. My health still suffered for lack of meat protein.
It's just a fact that some of us don't take well to a meat free diet.
It doesn't mean that we love animals any less.
I deplore the killing of animals for any reason than food. |
| Fresh Poster | on 05:17PM at May 18th, 2008 That surprises me, because most vegan's and vegetarians are way healthier, usually, than meat eaters! |
| Fresh Poster | on 06:49PM at May 19th, 2008 Yeah, I have been veggie for 13 years. I remember 13 years ago, there was not much choice food wise for us.
The wide choices we have today is brilliant. I can practically make any meal into a veggie version!!
It's nice to know that there are other people who are veggie. I live in Ireland, where people love meat. So, they think I am weird for not eating meat................. |
| Fresh Poster | on 08:45PM at May 27th, 2008 you can wear leather but you just can't kill animals and make them not eat. and no seafood does not count. |
| Fresh Poster | on 08:55PM at May 27th, 2008 you can wear leather but you just can't kill animals and make them not eat. and no seafood does not count. |
| Fresh Poster | on 05:33PM at May 29th, 2008 I've been veggie, from year 5 - I completely refused to eat anything with meat even though my Mum didn't like it, but I stopped in year 9.
One thing I've realised is that animals die all the time for meat and the reason people buy the cheap meat is because a) they can't afford the free range produce or simply that it's either one free ranged pork chop or 4 pork steaks from factory farm. I do kindof respect you because I do feel bad for eating meat because I do genuinely love animals and I do ALOT for an 18 for wildlife etc but I feel that being vegetarian or vegan is the wrong answer to this very important question.
Instead of trying to stop the production of factory farmed meat by not eating any meat at all it would make more sense to encourage farmers or supermarkets to cut back on factory farmed products and it would make even bigger and better sense to buy the free range meat and encourage the farming industry to modernise and meet customer satisfaction because by taking yourselves out of the equation altogether you're actually making it harder for the people who like to eat meat who are honestly trying which every bone in their body to eat free ranged and happy animals. | |
