Help Me! I Obsess Over Everything!

Question: I have been living with panic attacks and anxiety for about 16 years. It started after I stopped using drugs. I constantly thought I was going to or was in the act of having a heart attack. Then, it started me checking windows and doors repeatedly every night, and the...

Later this week I will be going out

for coffee. Coffee houses always seem to be some of the most crowded places to visit. When a good seat isn't clearly available for me, I always become noticeably unnerved. My eyes dart across the room nervously, I might shake a bit and my heart starts to race a little. In order...

It is tough for me because

as much as I hate being in crowded places and surrounded by too many people, I really do love going to concerts.. More crowded it can't really get, right? So when I'm on a concert, my two sides are fighting.. One is enjoying the music, the other one is constantly searching for...

I ran out of a parent meeting at my kids school

last night. it was all going well, everyone was seated and organized. then they said parents should look at information at the booths and tables around the back of the room and the chaos was too much for me. the same people, now swarming, made me feel trapped, like I couldn't...

I was walking through china town today.

..on Chinese New Years....where there was a lot of people. Everywhere. Usually I would've turned around straight away, and headed home, but today I had someone's hand to squeeze as we weaved through the crowds. I don't know what I would've done without him.

    As someone with gender dysphoria,

crowded places make it worse. Seeing people stare at me and not knowing whether they're wondering what gender I really am or not. You can't blame them for the fact that I still have feminine features. But it deeply scares me that they might out me by using the wrong pronouns...

    I've always been this way.

I remember my first party as a teenager. I made sure to keep it where no one was behind me, and if people started grouping where I was, I moved away. I feel like I have to watch everyone and protect myself.

    This is particularly hilarious

because a passion of mine is going to the cinema. Until those lights go down and the film starts I am at war with whether to run out of the screening or not. I struggle with sitting in my seat around others and even if the film is engaging I will be panicking and unable to...

    I dislike crowded places.

When I need to do something or go anywhere there isn't any politeness. People don't look to see if they may bump anyone. I often feel like I am among a stampede. It is just like traffic. You watch where you are going. No one is going look out for you. There is to much...
