Cold butter doesn't spread well.... but when people leave it out for a long time so it gets oily... thats gross..
The best thing I found is to cut thin slices off and put them on a plate... they warm up quickly so they are spreadable but don't get icky.
I know its nothing to get really upset about, but it ruins the toast and my day. I don't know why it upsets me so much, I guess it's just one of my "things"
I always have a butterdish (with a lid) in the cabinet and ready to go in case I get my regular craving for...
