My cat is highly destructive. He tears up the carpet, pee's on the floor out of anger or frustration. He is extremely needy. When I say extremely he needs to be within a foot of me or my husband at ALL times. He is so stresses out all the time. I have no idea what to do. I can't take the destructive behavior. To top that he howls for hours on end at night. For reason's I obviously don't understand. I have one other cat. She is very peaceful. He picks with her. I am loosing my patience. I feel guilty but I just want to give him away. It's been two years. He is litter box trained but pee's when he does not get his way. ANy suggestions???

Has he been fixed up?  That might be a reason for him marking his territory.  Also, make sure he has a varied diet - hard for cats who are fussy, trust me I know.  Have you tried a spray bottle and spraying him (not squirting a jet, the mist spray) whenever he does something naughty.  Use a word or sound, like "Don't" or "Nah" in a deep voice and he'll associate the noise with getting wet so you can eventually take away the spray bottle.  Also, does he go outside and get exercise?  If he's an indoor cat try getting him a HUGE cat gym with things to climb, crawl under and chase.  If he has an area of his own he might spend more time there than with you.  Lastly, what does your vet say?  They can usually help, or at least get you in touch with someone who can.  Hope that helps.

I use rescue remady drops in the water, extra play time at the same time with the other kittie , simple toys, a big paper bag, or shoe box, those little fur mice, shoe strings, are great toys that make all the kitties play together, spray bottle thing works to, and they both need to be fixed to, thats a big issue as well, he seems to need more stuff to keep him busy,

I HAD A CAT ONCE (ONE OUT OF 13) WHO DID NOT FIT IN AND WAS REALLY A PROBLEM ( AND I NVER OTHERWISE HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THAT WITH ANY PET) AND I FINALLY DID RELUCTANTLY, GIVE HIM AWAY, CAREFULLY SELECTING WHO I GAVE HIM TO.  AND, VOILA! HE LOVED HIS NEW PEOPLE AND THEIR KIDS.  I HAVE NO KIDS SO MAYBE THAT'S WHAT HE NEEDED. ANYWAY, IT WORKED!
