I have a scar on my throat from my two parathyroid surgeries.  Quite often my scar will itch and burn. Sometimes it will even become slightly red which I think is due to the collar of my shirt rubbing against it. It's been about 4 years since my last surgery. Will it ever hurt less or will it always hurt because it is in such a sensitive area?


I am having parathyroid problems again and may to have another surgery which would be the last because they told me it would be too dangerous to cut into my throat a fourth time. The rest of the parathyroid would be implanted in my arm. I will find out at the end of the month hopefully whether I will have to have another surgery.

I also have a scar on my neck from having mt thyroid removed .I expierience tenderness at times and find it bothersome to have material rub against my scar.you can get injections in your scar to numb it you have to go to a dermatologist.I did, to have kieloids treated, it helpped.
