"Say it again, say it again,

" is what they tell me. So I say it, and they start laughing. I'm a born entertainer, I guess.

Having grown up moving around all my life,

my accent is mixed. I'm often mistaken for a Canadian. I grew up around Oxford in England and then the South and Mid west of America. Now and again mistaken for an Australian but 9 times out of 10 it's Canadian. Anyone else ever get this? I'd assume it's probably mostly us...

    It's not an exciting accent,

just a Lancashire one and it gets on my nerves when people assume that I'm stupid because of my Northern accent.

Southern girl! I used to try to hide it-- not

sure why. Now I've realized that it's my voice and I can't change it. So, honestly, I have a thick country accent.

    Yep, full blown Texas Drawl!

!! I love it, mostly because it allows me to be instantly underestimated. When one hears the accent, there is an immediate assumption that there's a lack of education or intellect. I truly enjoy the double take that occurs when there is a realization that the assumptions are...

Apparently I sound like I'm not from the U.

S., even though I am. Often people comment that I sound "different". I have a lateral lisp, I know that, but even when I speak the "right way", apparently I sound odd sometimes.

I've just noticed a unique feature of my accent.

I pronounce long I differently depending on what type of consonant follows it. If the consonant after it is unvoiced (C, F, K, P, S, T, or X), or if the consonant is R, I pronounce it like uh-ee. If the consonant that follows is voiced (B, D, G, J, L, M, N, V, W, sometimes Y...
