    Saoirse. I live in the USA

    and almost no one who reads it and then tries to say it can get it right. The first week classes I am always teaching the teacher how to pronounce my name. I understand why they have trouble though and I don't mind.

    Sicilian Name

    I have a Sicilian name. It's very unusual. Rosalia. [shudders] Mind you, my friend is called Annunziata (we called her Zia, Anna or Nun at school!)

    Irish Names Are Crazy!

    Okay, I have a crazy Irish names. Irish names are generally crazy! My second daughter is called Aoife. This is VERY common in Ireland, it's said Ee-fuh, an Irish Eva! Then there are names like Caoimhe which is said 'Keeva'! Clodagh is said clo-da! But it looks ugly written...
