    Afraid of Being "Diagnosed"

My doctor told me I probably have ADD.  I can never stay focused on anything, and forget and lose everything.  My wind wanders all the time.  However, I am afraid to get an "official" diagnosis because I don't want to let myself use it as an excuse.

    Only Me

Looks like I am the first officially diagnosed story on here? Not much to tell, though. I've been diagnosed by several doctors and recently by a big fancy test, which tried to bore me to death and then measure how well I paid attention. It was awful! I'm on meds, which I like...

I just can't get my dosage correct, either too high or too low. I was so tired of being all over the place--but hyperfocus is worse. I'd rather a billion nothing thoughts than one thought on repeat! Especially if that thought is negative, not good.

Questions Regarding Medications For ADD And Narcolepsy.

This is my first time posting on this site and I hope I'm doing this correctly. I would like to know if people have had the experience of taking Adderall and having them feeling normal far as energy is concerned. I was diagnosed with ADD 2004. The doctor at the time prescribed...

    Diagnosed As An Adult

I don't remember exactly when I was diagnosed, but I think it was my early to mid twenties. I remember coming back to college for the spring semester of my sophomore year, and everything fell apart. I couldn't concentrate, never understood the lectures, hardly ever did homework...

    Wait.....What Was I Writing About....

I'm not trying to offend anyone by the title of this .....I'm a firm believer in finding humor in one's faults. I mean, let's face it...if you can't laugh at yourself first, then you'll find nothing funny. ADD is a serious and increasingly common problem...and I do take it...

    Oooh, Shiny!

Not living up to potential. Heard that one before, I'm sure. I heard it from teachers and parents. When I was a kid, only boys had ADD, and then, it was minimal brain dysfunction. Even now, boys are far more likely to be diagnosed. But then, they're more likely to be the...

A lot of times people scoff at adults having Attention Deficit. Well I did too. I thought this was the hyper kids I knew and foolishly thought it was a form of retardation. Stupid!! When I was young I daydreamed a lot and all my life it seemed I just did'nt get it! Luckily I...

I think I have ADD since I was very little. I'm not hyperactive or impulsive like ADHD. On the contrary, I'm very quiet, very introverted, often daydreaming. I'm slow, in the fog, aloof. I have a board at home to write down my appointments, because when I'm on my...
