    Sprinkle Dilema

Yes, and I'm at a loss as to whether I should put chocolate or rainbow sprinkles on it. Ohhhh....the hugeness of my dilema is unimaginable! I'm going to have to get my family to vote on it. I can't decide. Although the last cake I bake had rainbow sprinkles on it, so in being...

I cheated a little here. The chocolate cake itself was baked by my fair hands, but the icing on the top and in the middle is the Betty Crocker stuff as you can't really beat it. The sugar roses I purchased too as a finishing touch, but I am proud to have made this!

    Baked A Cake

Today wasn't one of my days.  I felt very depressed, shed some tears too and not to long ago, I went to bed.  I did not sleep, just laying.  I had to take a grip and told myself, what the hell are you doing to yourself?  Anyway, I chose getting up and getting busy.  I have...

So today I went to a cake decorating class with

two other friends. I was exhausted by the end of it. Decorating cakes take concentration and finesse. I get distracted easily and have terrible hand-eye coordination. I also have no control over my strength. The teachers had to resuscitate my cake back to life several times...

    I Dont Buy Anything Premade

i ended up buying six sets of this book for gifts but the basic bread mixes here are easy to use and i swear you'll stop buying bread in stores. takes about 15 minutes on sunday and i have cinnamon rolls, bread, pizza crusts, pita bread, and flatbread all from the same mix, few...

    Smashed Up Cake

Ok so I was baking two cakes for no reason but I chose to do so. It took a long time to make these cakes and decorate them. So I brought the cakes to a little party and everyone liked it, and asked for more. People started to notice the other cake I had made. They asked me if...

One of the reasons I don't often do cakes is

because they can be a bit of a trial to eat. We don't have dental insurance. I almost gave up on cake making years back when we were on an economy drive, during our ecological years. Rather than waste a currant loaf I'd made we hacked it into some semblance of slices and used...

    First Time

I baked a cake for the first time this past weekend.  My parents were coming to visit, and I wanted to have something to serve them for dessert.  I got out my roommate's cookbook and looked at cake recipes, but I didn't have the ingredients to make most of them.  I...

When I was 10 or so, my grandma taught me to

make a cake from scratch. My cakes were not too bad. My grandma used to brag to her church friends how she had a grandson who baked cakes from scratch. What a good memory.

And It Got Me a Boy.

A bunch of my friends, including this guy who I kinda knew but never really talked to, came over once, and we cooked dinner together.  I decided I'd make dessert: a strawberry cake.  It was basically lemon...

    Para Mis Hermanos.

I often bake the cakes for my little brother and sisters' birthdays. My mom is generally too busy running out at the last minute to buy presents, and she's not real attentive when it comes to keeping an eye on things in the oven anyway. But I enjoy it. I always decorate their...

I have baked a lot of cakes. I have also done cup cakes. I don't like to bake cakes all of the time. My grandpa will scarf them down in a day or two. I like to be able to enjoy them longer then a day.

    Here's My Victoria Sponge Cake!

I decided to do something productive this afternoon and have a go at making a Victoria Sponge. After going to the shops to buy a few ingredients I got busy baking! Want a slice?  I ended up making a huge dust cloud with the icing sugar, but I was pleased with how it turned...

    Valentines Cake

For valentine's day, instead of just going out and buying a cake, I decided to make her a cake. I used the so-called Waldorf-astoria velvet cake recipe. I substituted cane sugar for the white sugar and it turned out ok. It was a bother to get it all ready in time. But she loved...
