I Have Been to Afghanistan

And what I can't explain is,

sometimes I miss it. It doesn't bother me, I'm not troubled by memories or anything like that. Quite the contrary. The urgency of ordinary tasks, like driving down a road, just made life seem more relevant. Ever since I came back, it's like the volume is turned down on life.

    I Like Afghanistan....

I was a civilian contractor for the U.S. Army, and worked all over Afghanistan. I spent significant amounts of time in Bagram, Kabul, Jalalabad, Khowst, Ghazni, Mazar E Sharif, Herat, Khandahar, and a few other places. I would love to go back at some point and actually travel...

    2010 - 2011

I was in Afghanistan from November 2010 to May 2011. While I was there I worked on numerous jobs / projects. I mainly worked as an engineer. I saw lots of the country, mainly by air, but I did take a few convoys. My time there seemed to drag on at times (holidays). I'm glad I...

    Dirt And Rocks

I am here right now. I know there is the whole anti-war thing going on. I am not saying that i hate my country or any thing but I have no idea what we are doing here. If i did know then i have forgotten it. It doesn't even seem like we are helping any more. Everyone has the...

    My Home Away From Home...

I was coming back from the chow hall with my friend, when two mortars landed behind us. We got down, waited a few seconds, then two more hit off to the right of us, so I started running for the bunker. Then one landed in front of us, but behind the bunker so I kept running...

You Can't Appreciate Freedom Until You Know The Price Of It...

Just a small thought of mine that I'd like to get out there. Since finishing an operational tour in Afghanistan I have loved all the smaller things in life back in the UK, but it has also made me hate people who cannot appreciate what this country gives them and people who are...

    From One Desert To Another

I came back from Afghanistan in Aug 08 with the 173rd ABCT and deployed to Iraq in 09 with 2nd ID. Not even through with this deployment yet and my current unit is already gearing up and slated for an Afghan deployment in 2012 and mutiple NTC rotations throughout 2...

    Afghanistan Hell On Earth!

I came back from afghanistan a couple months ago, my job was to take out heads of villages and to make it look like the Taliban had killed the head as punishment for dealing with the army, this is happening all over Iraq and Afghanistan, all for freedom? and to implant...
