    Countries? Where have I been?

Japan, China, Canada, USA, Korea, and two minutes from the Mexican border -does that count? My favorite places though are the USA and Canada -there is every landscape and every culture between these two. But I'm still going to get to Europe one day -I just have to.

    Lots of them, in fact!

While working as an expat, I lived in Afghanistan, Dubai, Thailand and Singapore. It's so invigorating, living outside my comfort zone!

I've been all over the place,

both in the US and around different parts of the world. A lot of my experiences have been shaped by the different cultures I've visited, and has helped me learn a lot. I highly recommend people travel to broaden their horizons.

    Because of the military.

I was stationed in Berlin, Germany in the mid 1980's. I was also stationed in Sinop, Turkey 1988-89. I've traveled through Switzerland and England. I also spent the day in Mexico (chaperoned a group of young soldiers in my unit at Lackland Annex, San Antonio, Tx.) It was a...

Actually, a few of them -

but I'm not a tourist . . . always had some reason to go. Tried to get to know the locals, learn the language when necessary, and find out what it's like to live there. I still do it that way. That's how I learned Spanish and French - and a little Italian. :)

Because I have served in our military I have

been to many countries outside the USA for the past 23 years. I just retired from the military this past July. I really loved being stationed in Europe and Australia the best. I did not mind combat assignments but was very nervous and at times scared while in these zones.

Like most young men of my generation,

I visited another country courtesy of the United States military. The fleet I was attached to went to Mexico with a few Canadian vessels. It was not my most memorable time. In fact, I thought it was a little boring.

I've traveled to several foreign countries

and I think everyone should travel as it shows us, through experience, that people don't view things the same. Not on a cultural basis nor an individual one.

We are planning a family vacation next year to Puerto Rico, staying on the south east side of the island (near the rain forest). Any suggestions of things to do/see? We'll have 5 adults, a 16 year old, 2 14 year olds, 2 12 years olds and a 4 year old.
