    Land Of The Rising Sun

I came with the rising sun and I've brought nothing but two eyes, all I have, simply two eyes, for the harvest of grief that's hidden in this jungle like the coffee shrubs  Fewer, but they fling themselves upwards, untouchable, are the trees that invidiously shut out the light...

    Went For A Missions Trip

We packed up the family and drove across the country to do a family missions trip. It was nice. We helped at an orphanage, worked on building a house for a needy family, and assisted at a church. I loved the people we worked with. The kids were precious and so happy to have...

    Alta Vista

I could sense her apprehension of me going it alone. "put the hotels emergency number in your phone, just in case". I kept the fact to myself, my destination was between two volcanoes and at the bottom of a small canyon. Soon I would be in a dead space. No reception. GPS, zilch...

Gift Of The Jaguar: Part Two

She tried to move. But roped up from shoulders to ankles, with her feet together planted firmly on the carpet, she couldn’t budge. She could barely even wring a squeak out of the bedpost. Attached to a queen-size bed, it wouldn’t budge either.      The bed...

My wife is from the town of Toluca,

Mexico. One of the best experiences of my life, other than marrying her, was climbing the Nevado de Toluca volcano that dominates the city's skyline to the southwest. You can drive to about 13,500 feet and hike the rest of the way. Never in my life had I been in a harsher...

    We Just Got Back

From Playa Del Carmen! The Yucatan and and Costa Maya are wonderful parts of Mexico. Though I have never been to any other part, (there are a few on my Bouquet list) If you have never been. I would encourage you to go. It's a different place, a place where life should be.

    Cabo San Lucas

I told the story of my encounter with the blazing sands of Puerto Vallarta elsewhere. This is a shorter story. Of all the things to find cool about Lover's Beach in Cabo, the coolest to me was that it was the location where they filmed part of the original "Planet of the Apes...

    Scariest Bathroom Ever!

I went on a cruise two summers ago with my best friend. We stopped one day at Cozumel Mexico to tourist it up. Well we got drunk. We then went snorkeling where I proceeded to slice my leg open on a rock. Salt water stings! So she and I left the group and ask one of our guides to...

Have been to several places there many years ago. But with the crime soaring in its present state, I would not risk it. Maybe someday when things get better.

    Ahhh Mexico

I've been to Mexico a number of times. As you learn their customs and become just a bit comfortable speaking enough words to be able to convey a thought along with some English, the people are just so friendly and giving, it almost seems to become a second home.

    Once So Far

    I Learned Some Lessons

I went to Mexico around March 21-29 of 2011. I went with my youth group leader and with another church. The reason why we went to Mexico, was to build houses for the families that needed an extra house, or needed a house period. We took two 15 person vans, two truck w/ trailers...

    To the Riviera Maya -

and what an idyllic area it is too! Cancun is just like any other large U.S. town really, but the beaches in the area are perfect. Steeped in history there too and it's as fascinating as Egypt. Just wish that more could be afforded to be unearthed as the vast majority of the...

    Both

At one point I thought that Mexico was the saddest place on earth. I saw the emptiness in the eyes of the Indio as if something was lost and gone forever, something stolen by Cortes perhaps. I saw the remains of what was taken in the National Museum and started to doubt the...

I lived in Cancun for five years.

People seem surprised about it sometimes. Yes, Cancun is gorgeous. Crystalline turquoise waters as far as the eye can take in at one time. White sandy beaches that stretch for miles. However, when I lived there, it was even better. There existed virginal and lush jungles...

In fact I grew up in Mexico.

I was born and raised there. I learned family values in Mexico. I learned respect for others, I learned hard work from my mother while being in Mexico. It has been 13 years since my last time there and I crave it with all my heart to go back. Unfortunately I am a caregiver for...

Gift Of The Jaguar: Part Three

He stepped in front of her. She stiffened, staring over the top of his head, heart pounding. With her hands tied behind the post, her breasts were thrust out like fruits in a basket laid before him. “Robbery?” he repeated, having to look up at her on account of his short...
