I Have Been to New York City

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 561 People

NYC is staggering to the senses: hectic,

overcrowded streets and people jaywalking everywhere in a rushed tempo, the air is filled with a combination of exhaust fumes, underground air from the shafts and the odor of fatty grilled burgers, …the earsplitting noise of traffic and honking forcing you to shout to be heard...

It's a nice place to visit,

but I could never live there. It's too crowded for my taste. The main reason my family goes there is because we have family friends that live in Brooklyn. They're richer folk that live in the penthouse of an apartment building. Hell, they actually own the entire property...

    My Hometown!

I was born in Brooklyn, NYC and grew up living in Queens, NYC. Though I attended some schools elsewhere & moved out to Nassau County, Long Island in my 30s I still consider New York City to be my hometown.

    Again And Again!

I grew up in the mid-Atlantic region, so even as a kid, I would sometimes get to take the train up to New York with my parents.  I can't even remember what we ever went there for, but I wound up going to college just outside New York City.  The resident advisor from my...

I have been there quite a lot of times usually

    Four Times In Two Years

I've been to New York City 4 times in 2 years on field trips with my high school. It's a fairly easy ride because I come from Massachusetts. I always say this: I love New York City, I appreciate the Yankees as a team, and I hate most of their fans. Because I've been only on class...

When I was little my Grandparents live in

Manhattan and we would go and visit them. I went one more time in high school with one of the clubs I was in. We saw Les Miserables so the trip was worth it for that. I haven't been back since 1989 and although I liked it I don't know if I care to go again.

I've been to NYC 30+ times,

but I ONLY go for concerts, it's the best place for concerts cause of all the venues that are located their. But...the city isn't as great as people make it out to be. It's over populated, congested, way to much traffic (obviously), it's so much more expensive there than it is...
