    The Trip To Hospital

The ambulance came and they did their initial check of me. Asking the usual questions. Once they were satisfied they put me on a spine board and a neck brace and put me in the vehicle. I don't remember most of the trip in, as I was in and out of consciousness and when I was...

    The Prognosis

Most of those first few hours are rather blurry and now time is adding to the vagueness. The gurney I was on was moved out of the emergency and into the hospital proper. I was in the lift and I must have passed out again because the next thing I can remember is waking up in the...

    How It Happened

I have been living with this hell for the last 19-20 years. I'm 44 now. Mine was the result of a work place accident. Amazingly I still work for the same company, though it has evolved and been bought and sold a number of times. I was asked to run a network cable through the...

I Need To Now There Are Others Out There!

Hi, I'm a woman in her early 50's that just recently had a fall on my head.  After surgery on my neck I was diagnosed with BSS.  I've currently been doing pysical therapy and have made great strides in the recovery.  I've gone from a wheelchair, to a walker, to a cane, and I...

    The Start Back

All the other patients on the ward were faceless voices. None of us could see anyone else. One guy had broken his lower back in a car accident and had been on the ward for a while longer than me. His therapy had been coming along quite well and he was nearly ready to leave the...

"Unforunate 58 year old male." Really?

Well, I'm now 59 years old and although I have BSS, I'm still alive! Unfortunate? I don't think so. I'm in my sixth month of recovery from an accident where the bicycle I was riding had an unpleasant encounter with a automobile. When my head hit the roadway, I sustained an...

    Realisation

It is amazing how much slower the universe flows when you are in the middle of something disastrous happening to you. Why cant we make it do that when we want it? The bench I hit on the way down had someone working there. He was a young deaf lad whose name I cannot recall. He...
