    On and Under

My dad has a lot of horses. I am pretty good with them. Some day I hope to have my own bit of land to raise a couple of Shires on. If you don't know what a Shire is, it looks like the Budweiser horse, but bigger. My dad used to have this horse named chestnut. He was bleck with a...

I have galloped a horse across the desert.

Headed to the pyramids at Saqqara, from the pyramids at Giza..... Mostly trotted, but remember the sheer speed and exhilaration, (and fear) of galloping... Gulp!

    Usually a No-no

Growing up, I watched cowboys in the rodeos and on the range galloping and running their horses at top speed to catch a cow or run to the next town.  Maybe it was because our horses are gaited and do not have to run to be fast, but I ALWAYS envied and admired people who...

On purpose and accidentally.... The first time I properly galloped I had taken Holly down to Cornwall..... Holly was CRAZY. Proper proper fruit loop of a horse, lovely, and so so beautiful, but once she was off there was no stopping her, and she was so excitable.... Day two of...

    His Name Was Smokey...

He was a horse at the "Riding For The Disabled" school when I was a kid. We broke free of the "handler" and just shot off. We were free. I miss you, old pal. *sigh*

    Grew Up Near a Farm

My grandparents owned a farm.  We rode their horses, fed the chickens, etc. I miss this -- I would really love to move back to the country and away from the city.

    Feeling Free...

When I was younger, I would go to my aunt's house to ride her horse with my wee cousin and her pony. We would go out on hacks through the woods and the fields and race each other on our horses. Being able to balance on a horse's back while it gallops at full speed is such an...

    That Wind In My Hair!

I loved riding horses as a young teenager. I'm so glad I was able to have that experience. I used that to escape the pressures of junior high and high school. Just me and my horse. The feel of rocketting off into the unknown is magical. Horses are so dynamic and intense. They...
