    My Son

My son is almost 3 and has it. People comment on it quite often. I think eventually we will treat it with Botoxv when he is bothered by it. I don't have any known relatives that have it so I am not sure if it came from my side or my husband's. Is there any information on where...

Recently, I have been learning more and more about this genetic disorder called geniospasm. I was born with this condition and it was passed down from my mother. It seems like most of the people who are afflicted with this “disorder” in my family are women. Growing up with a...

    A Badge Of Identiy

The first person noted  in my family to have geniospasm was my great grandfather; his daughter, my great aunt also had it.  My father and his mother must have had it but it was not so apparent in their adulthood.  My father's sister had it until her husband died suddenly, then...

The worry is making me ill - i've had geniospasm

since birth, and have just had a baby. 1 month in, i see no signs of geniospasm in him. Obviously it's a 50/50 whether he will inherit it from me - has anyone else passed either a 'lesser form' of the disorder down, had children who've appeared fine, then progressed with it in...

    Anyone Tried Botox ?

Hi all I don't have geniospasm but I do have members of my family that do. One of them went to The Institute of Neurology in London where they were interested in doing a family study. Interestingly I don't have it but 2 out of my three children do. The Institute of Neurology...

    Are We All Related?

I'm wondering if we are all related? Does anyone know how many people have geniospasm and if there is a place where we can start tracking all these families and see how we are all connected?

    My Hereditary Geniospasm

Since I was six ( 1977 ) , my chin has trembled . My grandfather , father and brother also have the same issue . I have learnt now it is hereditary geniospasm . It was always aparent when I was a young child , but as I grow older it was less apparent . It has been brought on at...

Had Since I Was A Baby And 50 Now

Reading up on this and it's common for babies to bite their tongues. Both my sister and I did it. My mother's chin also trembles and so did her mother's. No one else in my family, my cousin's daughter MAY have it.

Brought About By And Brings About Stress

Hey, I got this ever since I know myself, my dad has it too. I hate it and the stress it brings along with anticipation molded my personality somehow, it sucks to know everyone will see there's something "wrong" with you, they think you're nervous, about to break down, fragile...

    Something By Way Of England

My family's geniospasm dates back to that branch of the family arriving in Kentucky right before the Civil War. They immigrated from Fordington, Dorset, Dorchester: Henry Warren and wife Sarah Gawler, born 1799 and 1806, respectively. From there, the trait has been passed in...

    Speech Delay

I'm wondering if you know if there are any speech development delays related to Geniospasm. My son is 31/2 now and his language is a bit delayed. I didn't think it was much to worry because at our teacher conference this year they said everything is fine and that he is...

    My Wiggly Chin

I was born with my wiggly chin. My great grandmother, grandmother, mother and brother have it also. My son did not inherit it. The weird thing is that my cousin's (maternal) daughter has it. I just read that it is autosomal dominant trait. I'm not sure how it skipped 2...

    My Guys

I believe my husband and 2 year old son have this. We only know my husband's side of the family. (Mother left when he was a baby) My son has twin sister (via IVF) who does not. I saw a cashier with the chin spasm last week. I didn't know there were more people out there.

    What Happens To The Tongue?

I have this 'disorder' since when I can remember... to me it's not like a disorder at all... just like how this scar on my left hand (which is result of a small fire accident when I was just 6 months old) is not abnormal at all! Since when i started to think and remember I have...
