Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 337 People

There were some 4500 of us living throughout Ireland in the mid 1800s. :) I love being Irish. I feel Irish. Does that sound stupid?

How I Got Irish In Me

When America was building the transcontinental railroad my Irish ancestor met my Blackfoot ancestor and had a baby. Somewhere down the line I was born with less than 1/4 Irish. That's a lot for me because I have so much mixed on my moms side I don't know everything I am. Dad's...

    May those that love us,

love us; and for those that don't love us, may God turn their hearts; and if he can't turn their hearts , may he turn their ankles; so we may know them by their limping. - an Irish toast

Well one that I know of.

Which makes me a small percent Irish. I suppose. Don't know much about it.

    Half Irish

Two of my grandparents were Irish (Higgins and Brady).  The two other grandparents were Scottish and English. I'd love to visit Ireland some time, but worry that I might be confused with being English.  Some of them aren't too happy to see English people in their...

All Irish On My Dad's Side!! :)

After tracing my Dad's ancestors online I found they are all Southern Irish from near Dublin :) Must be where I get my lovely natural reddish brown hair and super white skin from haha I hated it as a kid!! Even my great granddad on mum's side was Irish. I have German blood in me...

    I'm Irish Not A Drunk

Just a thought but under reccommended songs it is disappointing to see Get drunk and be somebody as the song. Celtic thunder an IRISH band or RONAN an irish singer/composer would be much more reflective of this group. Toby Keith is not irish at all so what is the connection...

    Irish Ancestors Too!

I am in Australia and have Irish ancestors.  My mother spent many years compiling a family tree, and she always wanted to go to Ireland to look up records. But she passed away before she could realise this dream.  I am hoping to pick up where she left off with the research and...

My Mother Says All Of Us Irish Have A Little Devil In Us

I come from Irish on both sides of my family.  Everyone in my family has a great sense of humor but we are also a bit devilish.  My Grandmother was a perfect example.  She went to church every morning and was always finding ways to help people.  She delivered for Meals on...

    Clear As Day

I do know, as my parents both forced me to remember it clearly, that every member of my family is completely Irish without a drop of anything else in their blood. Except for maybe my cousin. Or my cousin's cousin. Or my cousin twice removed. Aside from that, my family...

I love being Irish American. All four of my grandparents were born in Ireland, I was fortunate to get to go back and visit where they came from. I also have done Irish Step for 27 years and got to tour with Michael Flatley :). Im a red head green eyed lass :)

    Must Have...

I was born in Ireland, my parents and grandparents were born here, so inevitable that my ancestors must have been born here :) I just ask out of curiousity, what is so great about being 'Irish', as I am Irish and always to me the grass is greener on the other side
