    Two Actually. ...

Two actually. One was a college professor of Western Civilization and the other a neighbor. In 1982, I had the good fortune to interview this professor for another class (speech) and that is how I found out he was a Jew. He showed me his tatooed numbers. He told me that he...

She Was Still Full Of Love And Life

I had an elderly friend named Lonia who survived the Nazi concentration camps. Even though scarred and tattooed, she has a lust for life, a zeal for living that few could match. She was lively, bubbly, good natured and friendly to everyone she met. I miss her. She earned her...

Those were the exact words spoken of a Holocaust Survivor.  I met him years and years ago, but I remember one thing so clearly.  I remember walking up to him and just looking in his eyes....what I saw....I have no way of putting words to it.  I never want to see...

    He Never Spoke of It

When I was about twelve and was at a holiday family picnic, a distant "Great Uncle" (He wasn't an uncle but we called him that) rolled up his sleeves to play horseshoes exposing his prison camp tattoo.  I'd learned about the Holocaust in school, but seeing that...
