I wish I could say that I have never shopped on black friday, but it would be a lie!  I went once with my mom when I was younger and some old lady tried to run me over with a motorized cart.  I swore that I would never do it again, but I was wrong.  Last year my husband convinced me to go, but it wasn't as bad, we got some great deals on stuff we needed, and I let me hubby to the pushing and shoving.

this year was the very first year i went shopping on black friday.  i did it because there was a portable DVD player on sale and i wanted one for my kids.  because i only really wanted that one thing, it wasn't so terribly bad.  i just went in, got it, and looked around a bit more before deciding i'd had quite enough of the wall to wall people.  what i really found most amazing was that i got there at 5 AM thinking i'd be among the first to arrive because that's when the sale was supposed to start, but the ENTIRE parking lot was packed already.  i couldn't believe it.  i guess maybe i'm naive or something, but i just didn't see it as being THAT big a thing.  i'll know better next year---IF i decide to go, that is.  after hearing on the news about that man in NY getting trampled to death, i'm just not sure if it's worth the risk.  i was there to get a good deal just like everyone else, but i certainly wouldn't resort to murder to get what i wanted.
