I just adopted a 10 week old terrier - schnauzer mix! His name is Mo, he was one of four. Two girls and two boys, Eenie, Meenie, Miney, and Mo! haha. My dad adopted his sister Eenie :) Wish we could have taken all four :-/ So far he is just the cutest little thing and is so well...

    Comrade Bulldozer

"Jakey", as he was originally called by the ACC, was put directly on the euthinasia list when he got to the shelter. Why? Well, he's a pure-bred blue nose pit bull for one, and also he had some serious injuries. Fortunately, a good samaritan posted on craigslist about him, and...

    A Girl And Her Dog

Several months ago, my daughter met this one adorable Boston Terrier that she fell in love with. Since that time, she's been wanting a Bostie of her own. So, for her Christmas present, I decided to get her one. Specifically, we chose to get her one from a rescue organization...

    I rescued my yellow lab,

Annie, from Venezuela. I had taken a job on a small cargo ship running wood from the Orinoco to the big shipyards in FL. We were loading up the last of the cargo when I saw a puppy desperately swimming. A garbage bag wrapped around her neck suggested someone had dumped her in...

my dog was a greyhound rescued from a racetrack.

he was four, and had a successful money making racing career, and was to be euthanized.....yup, that's how they do business. He came straight from the track. lol....he had a few things to learn , never having been inside a house before, some silly moments, but boy did he learn...

    All my dogs are rescues.

Not once have I supported puppy mills. Three shelter dogs and a stray. I've also brought around 30 stay dogs back to their rightful owners... There's only one I wish I hadn't. If I were to ever find that dog again I would have two stray dogs and that man could rot in hell.

    Chopper And Layla

I have 2 rescue dogs, Chopper and Layla. I think people should stop buying dogs and hit their local shelters. To many wonderful animals are being killed due to over crowding. If I had a bigger place I would definitely adopt more.

    I have a rescued dog.

I am absolutely crazy about. Her name is Lizzie. I found her on a camping trip in the middle of nowhere by a lake. I was cooking dinner while my husband and son were out exploring. As I was cooking, she showed up and simply laid down. She looked exhausted. There were no camp...

His name was Rocky and he was a Labrador cross

Border Collie mix. We adopted him from the Nelson, SPCA when I was in Grade 7 but apparently he was originally in Cranbrook. It was interesting because Nelson was beside a lake, but he hated water.. So that made us slightly suspicious, because lab's love water.. So the next time...

In my country, dogs are treated horribly.

The streets are full of strays and so they are either beaten up or poisoned by the municipality. Recently, few people tried to open up a shelter and they found a stray dog living in an underground hole after apparently falling from the 4th floor of an empty building. I wanted...

    Several over the years actually,

But the latest one brought me a little extra. She was an older Jack Russel that had signs of either abuse, an accident or she tangled with another animal. I am guessing the later two of the three because she is so trusting of humans. She was a drop that I stumbled on in the...

The Dog Out Of The Corner Of My Eye

I live a pretty pedestrian life but this morning I was running uphill, on a nearby college campus, when I looked to my left and briefly gauged some movement or motion. A half husky/half something was darting in front of me headed for the road. A car was approaching from the...

    This isn't entirely true.

She part rescued me also. At the kennels, days left on death row. "she's jumpy that one, might not be good with you having kids" knelt down at the bars, eyes down, calling softly 'hello girl' I know she's next to me, can feel her breath on my face. "This one" Rope lead, down...

We rescued a shih tzu named Armani recently. He's kind of huge for a shih tzu but his pedigree is not important. We saw him a few times at PetCo and really connected w/ him. After a month or so of discussion we decided to give him a try. I picked him up on a Saturday and was...

My family and I saw her at Kitty City (strange

place to find dogs). We were actually going to get a Shepard-mix puppy because my dad wanted a guard dog. They were all boys. Then, we saw what the boys were doing to the only female. They kept humping her and pushing her around. We adopted her to get her out of there. It turns...

    Who Rescued Who?

I have taken in countless stray critters in my day. When I was younger my ego would tell me what a wonderful and caring person I was for being so kind to animals. I was the RESCUER, the SAVER I was saving all these furry critters. What a crock! I wasn't saving anything, they...

I rescued a golden retriever named Heidi.

She is more red looking though. I have had her for like two years but she is still shy. The dog is really pretty but pretty annoying. She follows me around everywhere like air. But I still love her.

Basset hound rescue called us to ask us to take in a homeless hound whose original owner claimed to be leaving the country.  We drove two hours in a snow storm to get this poor guy, in Port Hope of all places. He was a beautful reddish color and so very thin, it was painful to...
