My father was an engineer. I had some great times when he would take me to work with him. He would let me honk the horn as much as I wanted to hehehe. Wish he was still around to take my kids.

    One Or Two

I am surprised I had not joined this group long ago as I have ridden many trains in my life, in both the passenger cars and in locomotives and cabooses. The first trains I rode were back in the days when freight trains and some passenger trains might still be pulled by steam...

    Oh Yes I Have

I love riding the train out if Dillsboro, NC.  It has been a long time since I have taken this scenic ride.  I have also written stories about the rides on these trains and posted them in my profile in the past.

    The Northlander

I live in Ajax, and my son, his fiancee and my grandson live in North Bay. When I go to visit them, I usually take the Northlander. It is very rarely on time, the ride is about 5 hours from Toronto, and the train runs only once a day. But it's comfortable, and saves me having to...

    The Train To Nowhere

When I was young, my grandmother, a tiny woman with bright blue, eyes set in a face framed by white, curly hair, lived in a small, rural town. The pace of life there was slow.  People nodded when they past, greeted each other by name, knew whose cousins married who, and whether...

    Ferrocarril-Barranca Del Cobre

I first rode a train 10 years ago, going through the Copper Canyon in Mexico. The canyon is spectacular. You could walk in between the cars and stay outside if you wanted ( can't think of any other trains where that is allowed). Met lots of people and the service was warm...

I Normally Ride A Train At Least Twice A Week

I study in the capital, which is 60 kilometers away from where I live. Sometimes I commute by train. Other times, such as now, my parents insist on renting me a one-room apartment in the capital and I decide to actually stay there over the week -- but since I live so relatively...

Riding trains is one of my favorite ways to

travel. Whenever I travel to London or another place within the UK I almost always chose to go by train. It's nice how you can see the changing landscapes as you wiz by.

    My Greatest Train Ride

I was 2 years old. My parents took me on a train ride from Vancouver to Toronto. The name of the train was the Super Continental and was operated by CN Rail. I was so young, I don't recall much about it other than my Dad taking me up to the dome car to enjoy the view.

The last time I boarded a train was a round

Ahhh, trains, yes. I rode them a few times in

    The Skunk Train

On two occasions I've ridden the Skunk train thru the California redwoods. The Skunk train came to life in 1885 moving massive redwood logs to Mendocino Coast sawmills from the rugged back country. The view from the restored rail cars is pretty much unchanged: towering trees...

I've ridden a few trains. I love riding on them. I find it relaxing and it is so nice to be able to get up and walk around. The longest ride I took was from Seatle to L.A. and back. The fastest train I have been on was the maglift in Shanghia.
