I Have Seen a Bald Eagle

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 204 People

"Good Morning, Mr & Mrs Iggle!"

I live in north central Florida, where it's still wild enough that animals and birds can live, and I cross a wildlife preserve area on the way in to work each day. There is a resident pair of eagles that can often be seen sunning themselves in the morning and keeping watch over...

I Live On the Chesapeake Bay

Bald Eagles live all around the rivers and inlets off the Chesapeake Bay. I see an eagle at least once a week flying over my house. The Opsreys don't like them and attack them if they are alone.

Someday I Will Climb That Mountain Again

We used to hike to the top of this huge mountain to watch the eagles using binoculars.  However recently I visited Sevier County, Tennessee and the funpark there called Dollywood has an Americian Eagle refuge.  It was a lot easier to walk through that park than climb...

    And So Close to Home

Early last summer I was coming back from a morning bike ride, when I noticed a large bird circling a tree no more than a hundred feet from the road.  I slowed down enough to see it was an eagle, then slowed some more and spotted the nest...

    The First Time!

The first time I ever saw one in person was when I was coming home from my brother funeral!  He died in a skiing accident 13 years ago.  We were just crossing the river from Illinois to Missouri heading back to the airport.  Sitting on large chunks of broken ...

In Flight and It Was Cool

I saw five one day when I went looking for them.  There where circling and more or less showing off.  It was very cool and I have never seen them in flight, just an injured bird at the zoo or something like that.

    In Its Nest

I used to live at the edge of one of the areas known for bald eagle nesting and migration. I've seen the nests, seen adults landing and taking off.  I think I may have seen a baby once...but I'm not sure. And I've seen them soaring...and wanted to join them!

    Bald Eagle

I've only seen one once. While in its natural habitat. Soaring the skies as its meant to. Not locked in some cage at the zoo. Anyways on to my story. It was in 6th grade our class to a field trip on the river in a boat for some reason. It was most fun and exciting. The river...

We Have a Nest Just Up the Road From Us.....

I'm not that crazy about them though. They go after the stray cats around here for food. Makes me quite angry. But even I have to admit that watching them gliding in the air is definitely a sight to see... But I still don't like 'em. Mahahahahah!

    Saw Tons of Them

The First Time: I Was Flying A Kite

I just got a new parafoil and brought it with me for a trip to the country--big open spaces away from utility lines and very near the hang gliding capital of the world. She went up like a dream, higher than I could have imagined. She was a speck in the sky and I was straining to...
