    The Millennial Debacle

I grew up with the plan that I was going to go to college. No problem. I did exceedingly well in high school but received no financial aid offers from anyone. So, I took out loans. Looking back, neither I nor my parents really knew what we were doing and we didn't know where to...

I just wanted to let everyone know my

experience with SoFi. I attended undergraduate at SUNY Canton as a full pay student. I gradated with 40K in student loan debt with no prospect of repayment. I then met a girl who would go onto be my wife. I knew I had to take my finances seriously, but had no way to face the...

    Been A Bumpy Road...

I am a musician. I was born in Texas. Beaumont to be exact. I am not afraid to let people know who I am because I have nothing to hide. I now live in New York City. I grew up with my twin brother. Life was tough, divorce, child abuse, I am sure far too many adults and teens can...

    $80,000 In Student Loans

Decided to go to law school. What a mistake! 5 years later, I'm drowning in "direct" student loans of about $80,000 and another $40,000 in "indirect" student loans. I have a job, but not sure it's going to be enough. Debating whether or not to try out for this reality TV show...

I could not afford to go to college

and I did not have anyone to help me pay for my education. I was ill-informed about the steps for applying to college and finding scholarships and grants (I am the first in my family to really attend University). Unfortunately my high school counselor was not much help although...

    In Default

I was making the payments and then put the loans in forbearance several times when I was working because I had money troubles already. Then I lost my job and once again did the financial hardship thing but eventually my money started to run out and I had to pay bills and rent...

I'm sitting at 60k. I've managed to make a big

dent in my loans but there's a long way to go. I have stopped caring about them though. I'd rather enjoy life instead of doubling down and paying off the stupid things quicker.

I am about a year from graduating a PhD in

Biology. Thankfully I have only have to take out 8k for graduate school (most was paid by a stipend) but I have about 30k from undergraduate loans. The period to have to start making payments will start shortly after I graduate. Because of the recession, the government has cut...

Hi y'all. Let me begin to say -- I never feel

sorry for myself. EVERYTHING in life is an experience. My student loan nightmare began as soon as I graduated, and I didn't even know it. Repayment should start 6 months after -- but that was triggered then by an "exit interview" my U was supposed to schedule ... and...

I was the first person on

both sides of my family to go to college. When I graduated from high school, I did not want to go to college right away. I wanted to take a year or two off and decide what I wanted to study and what I wanted to do. I vividly remember my mother becoming very angry with me when I...

$1 Trillion Dollars In Defaulted Student Loans, And How Are We Going To Pay Them Back??

I went to a prestigeous college for both the second half of my bachelor's program and my MBA. What started out as a $60,000 debt is now over $250 thousand because of interest and penalties. I took time off to take care of my aged, debilitated parents, who had senile dementia and...

Debts For Life Starting At 22

I was forced into college right after high school because my mother wanted to live vicariously through me (since she didn't get to go to college at that age). I chose a private school and, like most new college students, didn't read much of the financial aid papers before signing...
