I Am A Jehovah Witness Associate

I am a Jehovah Witness Associate. I study with the Jehovah Witnesses and am often invited to their meetings and socials. I listen to music that has helped me alot and mentions Jehovah alot, so 1 day I started to open my mind more and research Jehovah. I found nothing in the...

My heart goes out to each

and every Jehovas Witness/ ex JW who has ever been or experienced the effects of being disfellowshipped. Half my family is lost in the 'CULT', my husband is a disfellowshipped JW and I studied briefly in their church. I choose to disagree with their teachings once I learned more...

Cannot Really Accept The Cross Was A 'torture Stake'

They are 'it' with that one although they do not focus so much on it any more. Just now watching the Frontline special on early Xty - no mention of anything but a cross. Xtns were mocked w/ the cross ' so and so worshipping his god- showing a guy kneeling in front of a figure...

    'course There Were Theological Nits

God punishing a sock puppet snake  was one   but not too much since fundies have just as bad explanation for it- a cruel god making a point with an innocent creation of his. My explanation is that this is a primitive religious story where it *is* a snake and an...

I Love The Personal Stories - But No Reflection

The ones spanning decades. Especially from the older people who were there back in the phonograph playing/placard wearing days. But it is too brief. I would've loved to have read more in-depth how they dealt w/ things that caused others problems like 1975, etc. I mean people put...

    Disfellowshipped For Being Sexually Abused

Yes. I heard stories of a whole family being disfellowshipped, including the kids who were abused sexually by their father. That I found reprehensible. Disfellowshipped for not telling was how it was explained to me. Really? Kids. Disfellowshipped for not telling. They shared...

Positive Things - Focus Not On The Material

a little torn here because the focus is not on higher education, but on solid work ethic. Something we could all use a bit of. But I always do remember the little skits at the conventions where the wife would proclaim she can quit work and stay at home met with...

It All Revolves Around 607 Bc- Fall Of Jerusalem

Except, and this was important for me a willful ignorance, the fall was actually 568 BC.   Back when Charles Taze Russell founded International Bible Students- that was what people thought. 607 BC, it stayed through the roll over to Rutherford and on through. They based...

    Nice Enough At The Onset

And I had issues with the theology but the things that impacted me was going with them to district conventions etc. - the ease with which they spoke of disfellowshipping and how they didn't believe in accepting differences of opinion. So when something was decided and you were...

Blood Transfusions -not Really An Issue (for Me)

I know for many this is a BIG issue. I don't have a problem with it. To me its simple faith not the nits of 'you know you never really do get *all* the blood out of a steak', or the fact blood is overused  (it really is trust me- but we're all in the same situation...

    Keeping An Open Mind

Its been over a year now since i first started my bible study with Jehovah's witnesses and its taught me a lot about myself and my previous mis-conceptions on many subjects. My initial reason for seeking them out was love... not love of ''God'' as i didn't believe in him, but...

I am a Christian. I grew up mostly going to

Baptist churches. Now I feel more connected to churches that do not claim a denomination. I manage a laundry and we have a community magazine rack and bulletin board. The local JW groups like to leave things. A younger woman, probably maybe 21 (I'm 29) started talking to me...

    Raised Jehovah's Witness

I was raised a Jehovah's Witness. I never had the goal of baptism mostly due to the regulations of communication if I were to be disfellowshipped. My parents, who were very zealous have calmed down quite a bit in their older years. We get along great now. I thought mom was...

    Their Horrid Bible Translation

just so unelegant. At least the KJV as literature is a thing to be appreciated on that point, but the New World Translation is horribly convoluted and lacks poetry and elegance. Compare in Jeremiah 25:29 For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name...

Positive Things- Stories Of Genuine Faith In Adversity

Sure Witnesses have no monopoly on that, but I did find the stories of witnesses operating in Canada when they were  under ban inspirational. Or in Africa during the Hutu/Tutsi conflict. Smuggling fellow witnesses to the US or hiding them from death squads.
