    "light" Sneezes

I have a sensitivity to light in the sense that if I need to sneeze, looking at a bright light ensures that I will. I heard that it is from an optic nerve closer than usual to an olfactory area. Makes sense to me.

    Finally Some Recognition :-)

My problem isn't that I have the Photic Sneeze Reflex. It's that I tried to tell someone (lets call him Jim) that this was happening to me. He just won't believe me. We'd be on a poorly lit indoor job and I'm up on a scaffold or lift. Bright halogen lights are shinning upward. He...

I have always had this reflex, but had no idea that it was pretty rare until today.  I just assumed that it happened to everyone. I don't mind it, especially during those times when I have a sneeze stuck in my nose.  I just look into a light and it helps me to sneeze.

I Used to Think It Was Really Weird...

I never knew anyone who also did this. I always noticed that when I looked at the sun, I sneezed (sometimes repeatedly), but I always thought it was really weird! It has come to a point when I don't need to look at the sun - if I just look at the sky when it's sunny or the sun is...

Long Time Sneezer, First Time Poster

I come from a family of sneezers. We actually used the phrase "The Sun tickled my nose" when I was a kid. I thought everybody did it. Then I went to college and the first time I sneezed when walking outside and said "The Sun tickled my nose" everyone looked at me like I had...

    Sneezing My Whole Life

I am 38 years old.  For as long as I can remember, I sneezed 2 or 3 times whenever I went into the sunlight, and sometimes into a brightly lit room.  Even in 7th grade, my friends used to comment how my sneezes were like clockwork as we left the cafeteria and headed out...

I Always Thought This Was Normal

I remember back when I used to go to church, at the end of the sermon the whole family would start sneezing as soon as we got outside.  All except my mother.  Awesome feeling! For me it's never just a single sneeze.  There's one big violent one, followed by 2 or 3 aftershocks.

When stepping into bright light (for me the

sun) 1/3 of the population starts sneezing uncontrollably. I've been studying, and the most logical explanation for this is: When you step into the light, your brain sends messages to your iris to contract, in cases with P.S.R the iris sends the message to the wrong part of the...
