I Have Trouble Killing a Spider

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 90 People

It is not conscience based, it is based on a disgust of the squashed spider remains and what if i don't kill it right and it runs half squashed around, all over the apartment, seeking revenge that night whilst i am asleep i hate earwigs most of all- that is why my hair always...

    Saved One From My Boss

Once my boss and I spotted a spider making it's way across the floor at work. She was going to step on it but then I stopped her. I took a piece of paper and made the spider climb onto it, then safely placed it outside. My boss thought I was crazy.

Okay, well... 1) I feel bad killing any living thing be it ant, mosquito, fish, spider or plant. I actually feel bad "killing" non-living things as well like a plate or what have you. 2) Spiders freak me the hell out. I'm terrified of spiders. I have to work...

Why Do They Have to Get So Big?!

I have commented on stories in this experience, but have now accumulated them here: Shortly after I moved to the UK a huge hairy garden spider walked across the living room floor, I had never in my LIFE seen a spider so big!  And it was hairy too!  I was completely...

    It Was Really a Monster.

Just an observation in the life of Coffeemate.  Why is it in a gay relationship, the one with the stronger personality is always the one who runs from the spiders? I have 2 creepy spider stories that I couldn't kill with my own hands.  The worst of the...

    My Flat In the Sticks

We had a canal at the end of our garden. And in the summer we were prone to various insects and spiders and anything else creepy to venture into the flat. My friend gaves us this hoover thing to suck up the spiders so we didn't have to actually kill them, or get too close to...

I get pretty creeped out by spiders.

I don't like them one bit. There's an old superstition that spiders are a sign of good luck, so I don't kill them ...for the most part...well, maybe just sometimes. We lived in Germany and they have absolutely huge spiders there, they hang in the windows of the basement, this...

    I'd Feel Terrible

I don't have trouble killing flies or wasps or anything but I'd feel terribly guilty if I ever killed a spider. Maybe it comes from reading Charlotte's Web and James and the Giant Peach about twenty times each when I was a kid. It would just seem wrong and cruel. My best friend...

I don't know what I'm going to do if I ever live alone. I suck at killing anything except ants. Most of the time I get someone else, but I'm also unwilling to wake anyone up to kill a spider for me, so usually if I'm the only one up I'm just like, "You were lucky...
