I Kill Plants

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 22 People

    The Sad Thing Is...

I really really love plants. They make me so happy. So when ever I try to keep some around the flat in pots and they die I feel especially bad. Why can't they just live? What am I doing wrong?

    The Plant Killer.

I am not great at having plants in my home. I actually kill them. I either forget to water them, or go overboard and over watering them cause I know I will forget! It's a nasty cycle. Plastic plants are the way to go for me. No plants were harmed in the writing of this story!

I Beg Them Not to Die

My Mom has a wonderous green thumb.  When she goes out of town I am left in charge of the green hoard.  The first week I just plain forget they are there. By week 2 I may think hmmm maybe the plants need watered.  Week 3, wow, I should really water these plants...

    Seriously a Bad Idea

I can still remember very vividly the time my mom convinced me to have my own little garden. It was really only a small pot next to the trellis, but I was little, so in my mind it counted. I was supposed to grow sweet pea flowers... My mom helped me with everything and we were...

    Kiss of Death

I don't want to admit it, but I too am a plant killer. It certainly isn't planned, so I wouldn't call it murder, but I kinda know from the get-go how it is going to end. More like 1st degree plantslaughter. It makes me feel like a failure. Plants are a lot of responsibility...

    Rentokil

I used to see the name "Rentokil" on trucks in downtown Chicago. They were a plant service, leasing and maintaining potted plants for office buildings. Without ever really thinking about it, I wondered over time whether it was a Dutch name, or Scandinavian. Tagalog...

    I Kill Plants

I am not too good at keeping plants alive.  I definitely do not have a green thumb!  So far, my cactus is alive though!

    I Am Plant Hell

I don't kill plants on purpose, it just happens, honest!I have all good intentions when it comes to plants.  My Mum is a great gardener and I come from a long line of farmers so you would think keeping a plant alive would be in my blood but alas no it isn't.My first foray...

    I Have Tried Earthboxes...

for the first time.. I bought four earthboxes and planted zucchini, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. I staggered the planting to see if I was getting it right. The first went fine. More than fine. It's a wonderful process to watch. I think it's based on hydroponic principles...

    No..

but my cats attack and eat them.  If it weren't for their killer instincts, my plants would be fine!  (I had one particular plant that they destroyed, which I miss so much). I brought my bamboo plant home for the holidays, and when I went to bring it back to school, I...

I had this pretty bright yellow bromeliad plant.

I've over watered it and now it's dying. Looked up on line and found that nothing much I can do to bring it back. I don't normally get upset over house plants but this one was so big, bright and pretty it's hard not to be

I Have a Black Thumb Too

This is why all my plants are either fake or are succulents or cacti that can survive being forgotten for long periods of time.

    Another Chance At Life

I don't know why, but today I bought a bunch of flowers to plant in the yard.  I hope they don't suffer long.
