    Working With the Deaf

    My little brother is deaf.

I had to learn it. It is one of those things that is cool to know and it is useful. My little brother can also read lips but he is not the best at it.

and its a great skill to have.

. it helps a lot .. I think that all kids at school should be taught this language. I learnt how to sign from my deaf friend and not only does it benefit myself, but it benefits others too

I wanted to be an interpreter

but then my dad told me it wouldn't make enough money and I wouldn't be happy. He said the same thing about me becoming a social worker. But **** him. I'm going to do it.

Today someone who spoke Arabic was trying to

communicate to me that they needed a taxi to be called in the morning. They were using so many hand gestures and incomplete words that I started signing to him. It turns out he was NOT deaf and thought I was making fun of him. Oops.
