    Culture

I love culture and tradition, my own and those of others. I am a sociocultural anthro major and a European history minor. People have interesting view points, a lot of which are manipulated by the way we are raised, which has a lot to do with culture. It's important to learn...

Remember how the zeitgeist in South Africa was

extremely prejudiced towards black people and how up until about 1920s in the UK, females were assumed to be unworthy of voting? Despicable and despising from the perspective of nowadays, but immersed in a shroud of ignorance in the folk back then. Well, I have just realised a...

    I Usta Work At a Super 8

We had a group of archeologists and/or anthropologists. They were really cool. And each day they'd go out and when they came back they brought in some really interesting stuff.

Anthropology is the study of humans,

past and present. To understand the full sweep and complexity of cultures across all of human history, anthropology draws and builds upon knowledge from the social and biological sciences as well as the humanities and physical sciences. A central concern of anthropologists is...

How mankind has developed from his early

existence here, the history of humankind is deeply interesting to me. I recently watched a programme on the TV called the Human Universe, by Professor Brian Cox. It was extremely thought provoking. Anthropological studies are mind opening and assist us in finding answers to...

    People Are Weird

I studied anthro at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX.  It was called Southwest Texas State back when I went there (graduated in 1999).  I really wasn't sure what I wanted to study when I was in college.  I started out as a business major at Texas A&M...

    So Much to Learn

There is so much to learn, both about the people who came before us, and the people who share the world with us. I think, human nature is showcased at it's best and at it's worst when you can see how differently people act along with the hows and whys behind those actions. I...

    Education

There is physical and cultural anthropology.  I love them both but I only studied the latter as a post graduate. It was most fascinating and it convinced me that culture essentially is a resistant complex of beliefs and rituals, having an internal logic that can easily...

    I was attracted to Anthropology,

Ecology, Biology, and Astronomy from since I was a child. Anthropology was, by far, the most influential. I especially loved Cultural and Physical the most. Archeology and Linguistics were great, but not as impacting. Studying primates and ancient civilizations led me to be the...

Never Heard of It Till College

I was a fan of archeology as a child (thank you Indian Jones) but took my first anthropology class in college and loved it.  It really opened up my thinking in regards to other cultures and social phenomena.
