I Like Frank Sinatra

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 199 People

And By Like I Mean Love Sinatra

I love all 40s and 30s music.  Ella Fitzgerald, Dean Martin, Tony Bennet (my favorite). Oh it makes me happy. I wish more people my age could appreciate the days when music was really music.  (As opposed to know when "music" sometimes means screaming, talking...

His latest dance craze ! My brother is a nut when we went to our hiding place in the forest ...It was all about Frank singing and dancing . He sure knows how to get the elderly ladies hopping! We actually got her dancing on the bar on her butt though.lol.

    Such Style.

His early works with Tommy Dorsey's orchestra is ace! Great stuff. Those guys complimented each other awesomely. So many good songs together. Almost flawlessly performed every time. Can't forget to mention that it's some great music to dance too (even though my dancin' skills are...

    How Can You Not?

I liked Sinatra, I just never knew I liked him. I heard his music, but I didn't know who he was. Then I met this guy. I've shared somewhere else about my first date with him. After dinner, we sat in his car overlooking the beach and listened to the Rat Pack. He asked if I...

Marvelous singer. Fine actor. I like his movie roles from 'Here To Eternity' to the 'Tony Rome' flicks. But I loved his music. 'The Best Is Yet To Come', 'Come Fly With Me', 'Fly Me To The Moon', 'High Hopes', 'I Get A Kick out Of You', 'The Lady Is A Tramp', 'Pennies From...

'I've Got You Under My Skin' (from the album

'Songs for Swingin' Lovers', 1956). A new high point in the career of Sinatra, helped in no small degree by the uncanny 'fit' between him and the arrangements of Nelson Riddle. Cole Porter supplied the song, originally written in the Thirties.

Got a feeling for this man I lack for anyone else. It was in Brasil when I first managed to see him in person, able to watch him  perform for a few minutes (he was singing "I´ve got the world on a string") from a side cabin used by the Press in the Rio Palace...

    Indeed

Frank Sinatra reminds me of my father. At our old house, we had a long, open kitchen where my dad and I were found cooking 90% of the time [we both love to cook and people say we're pretty good]. When we were cooking, my dad always played Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and other...

I have always loved Frank Sinatra's music.  I'm even listening to him right now, Under My Skin. Somewhere there is a video of me dancing to one of his songs in a cruise ship auditorium.  During the intermission of the show, my dad and I were the only people in there...

ALL THE WAY (1957). I'd turned the computer off

and my big old portable on the coffee table ON. I'd gone into the kitchen to do some things, leaving the radio to play because I don't have doors between the living room and the kitchen and I could still hear it. Then there came an unmistakable voice: Sinatra. It was this song...

Of course he's done hundreds but that's my particular favourite. It's one of the most cinematic and evocative of all songs. One of the best bits of acting he ever turned in. And it's on seven inches of vinyl.

I was unfortunately born into the wrong era....I want to go back to the time where music was 'more'. Frank Sinatra... not only had a voice like pure silk but had a wit to match. Classy, extraordinary and second to none.

NIGHT AND DAY (from the album 'A Swingin'
