    Lovecraft's Influences And Other Writings

Has anyone read The King In Yellow collection of short stories by Robert Chambers? I found some of it rather intriguing. One of my favorite past times is reading what influenced Lovecraft, something satisfying about reading early horror works. I suppose it's like seeing the...

    Truely Madness

Lovecraft without a doubt is one of the greatest horror writers of all time. Lovecraft was an Atheist and wanted to write something that could scare an Atheist. And he nailed it. His Mythos is the most brilliant thing in horror literature. They way he pulls you into the...

    The Most Involving:

For my money, "At the Mountains of Madness" is one of the creepiest and mysterious novellas ever written. Ditto "The Shadow Over Innsmouth".

    A Great Author

I am a great fan of both H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe.  It's clear in Lovecraft's work how much he idolised Poe - so many of his stories seem to be based around Poe's.  In turn, Lovecraft's work has influenced so many authors, such as Anne Rice and Stephen King...

    (dis)like

I started reading Lovecraft and everytime i do it i think "this is a terrible author", yet i can stop reading him. What's so bad about him? Well, i find his tone excesively descriptive , unable to create emotions for his characters but resorting only to describe them. Curious...

    I Blog Echpiel

I met HPL in 2002.  Something happened.  Maybe his ghost noticed me, which would be starange since he was an atheist.  Anyway, nearly 1400 blog posts and about 3000 readers a day, I have one of the most notable new blogs on Lovecraft out there. It's been freaky...

    Yep

I think Lovecraft is a master. So far I had only read german translations of his works, but two or three days ago I started reading some sotries in english and it's not that easy for someone who's not a native speaker, but it's wonderful. He writes so beautifully. And of course...

    Vegas Baby

So I'm writing a short story about Frank, Dean, and Sammy taking on Azatoth in Las Vegas sometime around 1961.  Working title: "The Rat Pack in the Walls." I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm on holiday at the moment

and I always like something to read. This time I picked up H P Lovecraft's classic Necronomicon. Usually I only ready Haunter Of The Dark to scare myself before bed, but now I'm getting to grips with the whole Cthulhu mythology. I love it even though I may not sleep tonight....

My favourite story is Haunter Of The Dark,

as I share the lead character's experience of been drawn to a building that frightens me. It doesn't matter if I'm 14 or 34, reading this to myself alone at night still makes me jumpy! Brilliantly written by a master of horror.

    My Favorite Story?

Rats in the walls. I find books to be so much more terrifying than movies. Your imagination can create your biggest fear far better than a television producer ever could. I like stories that give me goosebumps with the last sentence. HP Lovecraft is such an amazing author, I...
