They say if you don't learn it,

you're condemned to repeat it. I'm especially fascinated by cycles in history. Look up "The Fourth Turning" and prepare to have your mind blown. :-)

I'm a history major who loves European History,

but my school seems to have an issue with it. We have a wide variety of American History classes, but that's about it. There's nothing wrong with American history, just wish I had a chance to further explore my passion.

Not the pretty history all dressed up not to offend, the stuff that people try to bury in the past. If we don't understand how we got to the point we are at we are destined to repeat yesterday's mistakes. If I offend you, I'm sorry but maybe that was my intention to get you to...

    Just a thought. It is

so easy to confuse "the past" with "History". Surely while the former means just that, the latter implies "product" (ie what we know on a provisional and incremental basis) and "process" the specific academic means we use to investigate experience in the first place? This...

It's the story of who we were and where we are now, and if you look close enough, it's the story of where we are going. I've always been in love with history. It's like a big, complicated bedtime story. Each day, a new chapter is added and I learn about one that happened in the...

what is the real history? I.e. 1) Did France attack Germany first in 1914, into Alsace-Lorraine? 2) During WW1 did neither side try to call a halt to the carnage, before the armistice? 3) Should Versailles have put the blame solely with Germany? 4) Who were the warmongers? was...
