A lot of history is boring to me,

but some things really interest me. I have always been interested into World War 2. And out of all of the countries I have been more interested into Germany. I always wondered if I had a family member that fought in the German Army, i'll talk to my grandma about that and see if...

I used to hate history in middle school and the beginning of high school. Probably because I had bad and rude history teachers that seemed to isolate and try to humiliate me. Needless to say I didn't get the best grades on my history tests. Until 10th grade history came around. I...

I think history is the thread

that unites the generations. Your family and national histories are part of your being. You cannot escape your history as it is part of your identity, and you are it's product.

History is a dying subject in high schools.

It is believed that math and science are more important and history takes a back seat. But, you can’t know where we are going without knowing where we have been. I wish high school students could see and hear the passion our founders had when they formed this nation. I wish...

    My Degree Is In History

My first degree is in history, I am currently doing a masters in history, and I hope to do a PhD in history (probably starting in 2012), so yes, I guess you could say I like history! My period is late antiquity, broadly the fourth to the sixth century in my case. I find the...

Ok, I'll tell you something about a recent

history in my country, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It's about a war we had. I come from a catholic background but I'm a leftist and a liberal, so I'm not biased by nationalistic propaganda. It's a bit complicated but I'll explain. The neighbour countries of Bosnia are Croatia and...

I am very interested in history.

I also think that history has the sense to learn from the mistakes who were done in the past that they won´t happen in future again. It´s just a pity that many people don´t understand this sense because it seems that many mistakes from the past are repeating and repeating...

Not the kind they teach you in school.

It's one-sided and you never get the whole story. The history books are written by whoever wins the war. If you really are interested in history, read history written from different perspectives. We have a tendency as humans to see our enemies as evil, but I don't believe that...

The 9th April 1940 was a dark day in Danish

history..The day Germany took over Denmark. I saw a movie yesterday that made me realize how terrifying it must have been. 20:35 came the message that the German forces had surrendered. But the Danes only won because we got help from England. I know there's more to the story...

History Is Not About The Past

Faulkner said that the past is not dead. It isn't even the past.  He is more right than ever today. Interpretations of facts are always subject to the biases of the interpreter.  This is not new, Julius Caesar's history of the Gauls is less than objective.  In fact his...
