    University Library

The first thing I did when I arrived in the strange town that was to be my home until I completed my degree was seek out the university library. I spent a good hour or so walking up and down the aisles, running my hands over the books, occasionally stopping to read the spines...

     Libraries Are NOT Dying.

For those of you who believe that libraries are just old buildings that are ONLY about books, you should understand that libraries are NOT ABOUT BOOKS, they are about giving the public ACCESS to materials, whether that be online access, media access (CDs and DVDs), or physical...

    Toutes Des Livres!

I love books. Really! They contain the thoughts of men and women from many places. Men and women from many times past. I think books are the best way of entertainment and self-information ever devised, and as well as ages, hours spent in a bookshop I can spend days in a...

    I Like Libraries...

I like libraries because I work in one.  I always laugh when people ask me about what a book is about.  They always assume that I have read every one.  The great thing about working in a library is you get to meet interesting people. The stories I could tell...

    Closing Libraries Should Be Illegal.

It pains me to say this, but sadly, the library where I live is undergoing renovations that's going to take at least three or so years. :( I'm going through withdrawal symptoms; how dare they close a library? That should be illegal! All those books going unread...it's...

    Net Versus Library

It's been a long time since i visited a library. That must be mainly due to the internet. i read a lot on the net, including novels and newspapers not to mention the innumerable blogs (eeps). So i rarely find time to go to libraries. I prefer books to the net but it's...

I don't go to them as often

as I used to since Wikipedia brought the world to my laptop, but I think librarians deserve our respect for the reasons that Kurt Vonnegut stated.Librarians are our truest American heroes, fighting without guns but with the tools of true patriots:  freedom of speech and of...

I really do love libraries. They're so cozy and inviting. The one on campus at my University, its absolutely magnificent. A claustrophobic's nightmare. Usually when I go there, it is to check out indies and foreign films, but the other day I was in the mood for some...

    Love Books

I love libraries because they transport me to a different world full of fantasy and what not. I am enamoured of words so much that when I think there are lots of words waiting to be read, I feel am on a high. The smell of old books are somewhat musty and rare. I like...

    Love the Smell....

of books - old or new.  Life would be horrible without libraries.  They are fun and I have broken some of the "rules" in libraries and had lots and lots of fun there.

    Comfy and Quiet

They're always kind of peaceful and quiet. I always like going to the local library and sitting down, or curling up in one of the comfy armchairs and just reading for at least an hour. At my house, you can't get peace even if you tried your most hardest. There will always be some...

    Old Book Smell

Libraries are like a home away from home.  They have that comforting scent and are visually stimulating.  There is something haunting about rows and rows of book bindings.  You know each one represents hours of someone's life and essence.  I lived on a college...

It's Never a Waste of Time

I have never felt it is waste on time to go to a library.  I love when I have a couple of hours to killing and I can wander around library.  Pick up a book,  read a magazine, or look through the reference section.  So much information all in one place.
