I like numbers they feel real to me

when everything around me is not. They are concrete. I can cling to them.

    Math Is a Wonderful Thing...

I love math because (if you're good at it) you do it, and it's done. It's objective, and you can just cross it off. As long as you understand it, which I usually do, you can just do it like a machine. I feel so accomplished and smart when I do math. It's the only thing I'm good...

    Love By The Numbers

The elegance of a beautiful mathematical proof, that provides insight and clarity into irrationality; truth and beauty, the sheer joy of mathematical utility and purpose, from the functional to the theoretical. I revel in the poetry of formulae, arranged symmetries, or the...

    Quicker Than Fermat?

I am still searching his quick proof for exponents, positive but unequal to 1, 2, 4. (N=4 being proven if a²a² - b²b² unequal to z² if a² and b² are the sides of a rectangular triangle.) Why is this one not valid? A³ = a²a² / a = a²a²/d²d² = ((a/d)²)² = g²g², B...

Study = Fail .. Not In My Eyes

I was perusing the internet and came across this: Instantly, I began checking the math and could find no issue with it other than the fact that their final answer was in direct opposition of their first statements. So, I set out to prove this little bugger wrong. Here is what I...

Open questions. A lot of people do not realize

that mathematics is filled with questions that nobody has yet been able to answer. Most of those are very complicated and abstract, but here is one that is easy to understand. It is called Goldbach's conjecture. In the 18th century, Goldbach noticed that every even number...

    Beauty In Mathematics

I was terrible at math in secondary school, and avoided it like the plague in college. It was only much later, in my late 20's, that I discovered its beauty. But I also came to discover that ultimately the love of math(s) is not much more practical than the love of literature and...

My first most favorite Mathematician(s) would have to be the first person to come up with the concept of one. I'm sure he would also be the same person to add one and one together . Now I don't know if he would be the same person to arrive at the concept of two as a singularity...

Compression And Other Issues In Mathematics

counts for 100% of your grade, but is divided into two semesters worth 40% each and a final test worth 20%, what grade will you have to get on the final test if you made an 80 in the first semester and a 75 in the other to get at least a 70 average?
