I Like Opera

I came across opera by chance one day at the library. I was looking for relaxing study music and so had checked out a CD with a collection of classical music. On that CD was "Sous le dome epais" from "Lakme" which I enjoyed alot. Intrigued, I searched for more and found "L...

    Opera Fusion

Lately I've come across ALOT of music that has remixed opera.... Ive heard a few songs remixed to a light hip hop and the rest remixed to a fast trance beat. I really have been taken in by this new fusion of old and new. It adds another dimension to Opera music. It makes it...

    Time to Say Goodbyeeeee

I love that song by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. It's gorgeous. I love Opera. I used to sing in a choir, and when I did I used to be able to nail Sarah's part. I've lost it though because I stopped singing. :( I also love Habanera from Carmen. It's gorgeous.

" Carmen " And " Butterfly " Are My Favorites

Long, long ago I didn't like classical vocal music at all. But I hate to turn off the radio station just because a piece I don't like is on so I leave it play. I think Butterfly got me first as there is some very familiar music in if and not a lot of unpleasant-to-untrained-ears...

    The Night To Remember!

I was turned onto the Opera around thirteen years old. I fortunately befreinded a girl with well off parents (ones that liked me might I add). They often went to the Opera and one day out of the blue, while I was visiting with my freind in her room, her mother popped the door...

    Asleep At the Matinee

I've loved Opera since I was a little girl. My grandfather used to play the public radios Sunday opera and I would run around in circles on the spiral patterned shag rug. My mother would sing me to sleep with "Summertime" from Porgy and Bess.  Loving opera was, for...

    Mozarts operas are favourites.

Yes, there are lots of famous operas, Puccini, and countless others who have written and produced them, but for me it's Mozart. The magic flute, Don Juan, favourites. I love the humour.

I went to the Santa Fe Opera tonight to see Alban Berg's Wozzeck. This was possibly the best thing I have seen at Santa Fe Opera. This is still forbidding music even after 80+ years, but I have learned to love it. A great staging of a great work.

French Aria Lovin' In the Minority.

The majority of people tend to associate opera with either the big dramatic Italian bel-canto singers, or the works of Wagner. Especially non-singers. I find a lot of fans and singers alike, tend to dismiss or even dislike the more obscure French works. I adore those the most. My...

    The Most Human Of Arts

I love opera because it's un-plugged. It's such a showcase of very human abilities. The singing is un-mic'd; the sets rely on coordination and human cleverness; the acoustics of the hall are engineered and constructed to project sound from un-enhanced instruments and voices...
