    Watched The New Version

Johnny Depp was just a little too weird for me. Admittedly, the entire film is a fantasy but I much preferred the original version

    Pure Imagination

Don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy Johnny Depp's portrayal of Willy Wonka in the more recent version (the character is absolutely adorable). But to me, he just doesn't have the same charm as Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka. He's funny, yes, but lacks sophistication. Then again, I...

    Gene Wilder is fantastic.

If Burton had cast Christopher Walken as Willy Wonka instead of Johnny Depp, it would have been a much more interesting movie.

    Who Wouldn't?

You just gotta love him for that hair alone. The frizzy blond hair parted on the side to the extreme. And he was kinda moody. I love when he recites that poem on the boat on the chocolate river. The way he ends up shouting the words as if he was about to foam at the mouth...

    The New One Was Weird

I like the old one way better. It was a classic. The new one is just weird and abnormal. It's ok but it's nothing like the first one. Messing with a classic is wrong. companies should know by now that remakes are never as good as the original.

It Was Ahead Of It's Time

Today all great kids movies are saturated in special effects, I hate it. Gene Wilder's take on Willy Wonka was amazing, and it showcases another part of children's movies that has been put on the chopping block, song. Even most disney movies these days do not incorporate songs...

    The Worst Remake Ever!!!

I've seen the remkae and it was horrible!!!! In the original the songs were catchy, the charactors were lovable, and it was meaningful. In the remake it was like something out of Micheal Jackson's wet dream. It was tastless and cheesy!!!

    It's A Classic For A Reason

I have seen the old one so many times now. It's fascinating, the whole idea of it. And the new one just doesn't have the same "pow" as the old one. Plus the story line is really wierd. The new one has great special effects but thats about all it has going for it.

    I Completely Agree...

Although I find Johnny Depp to be VERY HOT... he is by no means a "Wonka"... Gene Wilder is a genius... and the new oompa-loompas are digitized copies of one guy!!!  It's just not good... it's scary... the old one sparked your imagination... the new one gives you...
