I am addicted to afternoon tea - the kind with finger sandwiches, scones and little desserts.  I live in a city that has a few tea rooms but most of them are pretty expensive - anywhere from $20 to $50 per person so I decided to learn how to make my own. My house has a shabby...

    My Favorite Cookery

It's just so much fun!  And I love the science of it.  As a scientist myself, I enjoy kitchen science books, and idolize Alton Brown. Sure, I like making pot roast, or pit roasting a pig, or a simple meal of some steamed mussels, some steamed veggies, and Sancerre...

I just wasn't interested in it. I didn't want to do anything my mother wanted me to do. Many years later, aka 5months ago I felt a strong desire for cake. It was 10pm all the shops where closed and I really wanted some cake, so I decided to bake one. I looked up an easy recipe...

I can clear my head and focus on creating something wonderful. I've always been quiet but I feel like I find my voice in what I make. When ever I have the house to myself I bake all night long just for the hell of it because it's so much fun. I want to branch into more savory...
