So Comfortable On A Long Road Trip

I used to travel distances over 500 miles quite a bit. After being in the car all day, I don't know what it was, but my feet always felt nasty, like I had been running a marathon or hiking all day, when I arrived where I was going. So, I started driving in socks in the winter...

    It's actually better

for me to drive barefoot because it was raining recently and my foot slid off the brake pedal with my wet slippery shoes. Also I feel like I have more control when I drive in my bare feet.

    Always Barefoot!

I'm barefoot 24/7 down here in New Zealand, so driving for me is always done in barefeet. Absolutely no need to have shoes on at all, would far rather enjoy the barefoot lifestyle. Certainly not illegal here in NZ to drive barefoot, and I cant really believe it is illegal up in...

Recently, I've taken to going more public

places barefoot, I you've read my recent story :) I can tell you driving barefoot is so much better than with shoes because I can control and feel the pedals so much better. With summer on the way, I look forward to freeing my toes in more places than ever :-)

Driving Manual Barefoot Is The Only Way To Go

I enjoy driving manual transmission vehicles and driving barefoot. Combining them both gives me superior control. I can feather the clutch so much better, and I feel like I'm more one with the vehicle. I notice a huge difference when I wear shoes driving - they are so heavy and...

    *wiggles Toes*

I like to drive barefoot, particularly on a hot day so that my feet can cool off and stretch out.  I also tend to wear sandals, and sometimes it's just safer to slip off those slippery things before driving.

    Highway To The Danger Zone

I drive barefoot simply because I think it's safer. If I can feels the pedals under my soles, wrap my toes over the edges, then we're all okay because I know my response time is good. I even drove a damn Uhaul truck in my bare feet recently and, as nervous as I was about...

    Easier

I find it easier to drive barefoot. I think its because I can actually feel the pedals, not just use them by knowing where they are. I also reckon that bond between man and machine becomes greater.

    Bare Footin It

I'm barefoot all the time, so it makes sense that I also drive barefoot. Its nice not having to put shoes on to go somewhere. I like driving that way because I feel I have better control over the car, I can sense how much pressure to apply to the peddles which makes for smoother...

    Barefoot

I cannot explain it, but if it is anything over a short 20 minute trip or so, I just feel compelled to go barefoot. Most of the time I wear these clogs which have a rubber sole, and a leather upper and I can slip them off with ease. So while driving for any length of time, I kick...

    Drive Barefoot

I think I learnt to drive a car barefoot- because I was wearing inappropriate footwear, I'd just take them off. Although they do say it's not safe to drive barefoot, I think it is MUCH safer. It sure feels safer than shoes. When you wear shoes you lose the feeling...

    Barefoot to School

When I was going to college I would always wear slippers. On the drive to school and home I always slid them off. I even liked to take them off while i was in class, but barefoot driving is nice u can really feel the pedal.

Living in south Florida, I've preferred being barefoot more than wearing shoes since I was a toddler. When I was a kid, all my neighborhood friends and I would run around without shoes on. We'd skateboard, ride bikes, play kickball, all while being barefoot. So I guess it was...

I feel I have a lot more control of the car. In fact, I've found that if I'm driving a manual shift I can't work a clutch if I'm wearing shoes. By the way, driving barefoot is legal.

    Driving Barefoot

For me I simply cannot stand driving with shoes and socks on. I wear size 16 men's shoes and, considering the car I drive, it's almost impossible for me to shift from the gas to the brake easily. Since the one time I decided to drive to a local market barefoot, I've become an...

    Love Driving Barefoot

There's nothing like the feel of driving a car with your barefeet. I started to drive barefoot sometime after I got my driver's license. It feels super comfortable and you are more relaxed and in control of the car. Whenever I have to get gas, I'm not embarassed to pump gas while...

the pedals, please explain to me why my wet shoe slipped off the brakes and made me almost rear end the car in front of me. I'm still traumatized by that even though it was a long time ago. Imagine your bare feet as hands. They can grip a pedal much easier than a stiff rubber...
