    My First Summit

On August 22, I summited my first mountain. My group had hiked 5 miles already and was looking weary. After climbing up a series of moss covered boulders, we came to a clearing. The view opened up to the valley of the Green Mountains, the clouds seemed almost tangible. While I...

    The Deception At Black Mesa

We hiked to the highest point in Oklahoma in the middle of summer, and ran out of water 3 miles away from the car. Mother had lied about the length of the hike, she said it was 3.5 miles. It was 3.5 miles, each way. My brother had the small amount of extra water but walked ahead...

    Hiking...Good Morning World

Yes, I Love to Hike.  ...

Yes, I love to hike.  But I hate hiking paths.  I have a really uncanny sense of direction; so, I like to just walk off into woods and wander and push my way through brush and trees.  I like to clamber over rocks and after a few hours I'll decide to go home. ...

    Sunny Colorado Trailheads

I just took another wonderful hike South of Denver this morning with a special someone. There were red rocks sticking out of the sky....so beautiful and nicely paved with sand. It was a very nice hike...gentle inclines and it was peaceful on the most part despite the mountain...

    12,633 Feet High!

Hiking in Flagstaff up Arizona's tallest peak, Humphrey's Peak, this past weekend was the most amazing and rewarding experience. Myself and 4 classmates drove 3 hours at 5:30 am to get to the trail head. The 3000 ft elevation change was rough, but the view from the top was the...

    Bear Bells

I've always loved hiking with my eldest son, who certainly chooses challenging places to go to.  We hiked/climbed the Mount Robson Trail, which has spectacular views and a series of waterfalls along the route.  Because the area is located in a National Park, there were...
