I Like to Read Forum & Chat Board | Book recommendations

I am a 23 year old girl. My boyfriend just broke up with me and I am heartbroken. Any good books to recommend to help with getting over it? Or just to take my mind off things? or any good book in general?

Vampire diaries and the secret circle are both good books. They won't help with your problem, but they'll defitnitly entertain you.

 

I just read a goodKindle ebook--it's a  romantic mystery called The Penis Files by Morgan Donahue. She's an indie author and it was only 99 cents, but I liked the story as well as her backstory on men and all their complications, tendency to cheat, etc.

 

World War Z by Max Brookes is really good.  It's an oral account of the Zombie War that would have taken place around now.  But in reality the book is one big reflection on the world today like American isolationism, problems in the middle east, the backward problems of China, Russia, etc.  It's very good.

If you want to read something really long, like a good long series, go with the Song of Ice and Fire series, starting with A Game of Thrones.  It's written by George R.R. Martin, whose a really good writer and hes not shy over some of the sex scenes.  Its a new HBO series also, i never seen it though.  The fifth volume of the series jsut came out, and its about knights and kings and dragons.

Real good fantasy I'd go with the Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfus, which is part of the Kingkiller Chronicles.  A story about a man named Kvothe whose a living legend and he is telling the story of his own life.  But really it's the story within a story.  And if you know a lot of other stories, like the old ones, you can recognize some of them in his current work.  I'd put this one off though, since only 2 of his 3 books are out, and his second one JUST came out.  Grrr, i hate waiting for good books.

Also if you are into Vampires, read the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice.  She's the one who more or less changed vampires from the dracula stereotype to what we have today.  But her writing isnt about necrophelia and pedophelia but more about the continuous struggle of immortality, the existence of God as well as some really homo erotic scenes. 

ORRRR, if you are into like space scifi, go with Ender's Game.  or Ender's Shadow.  Theyre both very good and like a yin and yang in relationship so you dont need to read one or the other first, technically, since they work together.  But Ender's Game was written first. 

All in all, all these books are well written, and they will bring a tear to your eye.  Oh and chin up darling over your your bf situation, it i will get better. :3

 

I just finished the book Wench.  It is about some women who are slaves just before the civil war in America and their relationships with their masters.  Not a great novel or anything but a fun read..

 

try  the FEVER books by karen marie monings they are very unusal

 

Vampire Academy is a long and distracting book series. You may be hesitant at first because it's about vampires but it is really good, it doesn't have much to do with helping you get over it though.
