justasiam wrote on 03:34PM at Mar 28th, 2008 I discovered a new favorite author. He wrote a series called "The Wheel of Time. I am currently on the fourth book called, Shadow Rising. It's on the same line as Tolkien but with different creature, types of people etc. For instance, a major group in this book are the Aes Sedai. The touch the "True Source" in order to do many wonderful and sometimes scary things. If you'd like to know more, just send me a message.

WyldHoney wrote on 05:01PM at Mar 28th, 2008 The only problem with the Wheel of Time books is that they start getting quite slow. Start off with a bang and then seem to get very drawn out. However, I was halfway through the 11th book a few months ago when I heard that Robert Jordan had just died whilst he was still busy with the 12th book. And the series was nowhere near the end :( Apparently someone else is going to finish that book - not sure about the series though.

AnotherL0stSoul wrote on 01:36PM at Apr 11th, 2009 I absolutely love the Wheel of Time series and think that it's one of my favorites. There are slow spots, as others have mentioned, but that is true in any book. I have read all the books several times and is one of those series that I think I will always keep close.

Wade1972 wrote on 03:53PM at Apr 21st, 2009 I absolutely loved his Conan books. They were among the best out there. I never read the Wheel books. I've heard so many conflicting things about them that I'm not sure what to do. I'll probably give them a shot someday maybe.

FarmerGiles wrote on 05:48PM at Apr 21st, 2009 Jordan is awesome. Truly, he is one of the few who deserve the honorific "Tolkienesque". Of course, I blame the obvious fact (even rabid fans agree) that the series is getting a bit long in the tooth on the rampant commercialism of today's world. If you could be making whatever ungodly amount Jordan was making for each book, wouldn't you streach things out? Besides you know you are going to read them anyway, no matter if there are three or ten more books!

The Irony of it all is that Robert Jordan's story is based on a vision he had one day in the 70's about a massive battle between good and evil.. he said that to reach and describe that point in the battle he needed complex characters.. his universe is amazing.. from geography to politics to social behaviors and norms and down to the physics and science of magic.. he wrote 11 books to get us to that battle.. and died before starting the 12th.. the battle.. its said he told his wife and best friend how it would be.. but in my heart i am saddened that he never brought us his vision personally..
Was an interesting man.. Robert Jordan.. who showed us an interesting world..
My mood: a bit sad

minus989 wrote on 04:10PM at Aug 6th, 2009 I have read the first book of "The Wheel of Time" series and I absolutely loved it. I want to read the other books too, but none of them isn't translated from English to Estonian. I tried to read English version but it's really difficult. But I'll try reading it again someday, when I stop being lazy.

jfeltes wrote on 06:12AM at May 22nd, 2010 So the twelfth book is out and I'm re reading the series but this time it's taking me a long time. I used to be enthralled by the stories but now I worry that without jordan writing them the new books are gonna be lame. It turns out they couldn't finish in just one more book so several are to come out. Hey check out this site. I made it as an homage to Robert Jordans first book. The wheel of time. Here you can listen to the whole book on tape. err mp3 LOL If you want there is a section where you can check out maps.

alarmclockmassacre wrote on 11:17PM at Nov 23rd, 2010 Yes, but he has since broken the last book up into parts. The new guy is a poor writer that has none of Jordan's ability to capture the surrounding world and he really has no idea how the characters think, feel or act. I feel like the entire wheel of time world has died with Jordan. My heart hurts over the travesty this ghost author has created of one of my once favorite series. Who thinks we should re-animate Robert Jordan? A zombie author beats a ghost writer anyday!

FurryFur wrote on 11:50PM at Nov 23rd, 2010 I think Brandon is actually doing a better job then Jordan himself could have done. The series did start to get really slow and boring in the middle. But with Brandon things seem to have picked up a lot and the characters still feel the same to me. And Brandon is definitely "not" a poor writer, his other books are extremely good. He is the only author where I made a point to go read all his other series/books because they are all amazing and have a sense of originality that is lacking in many books.
