Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 203 People

    My Mom Had This Friend

This male friend of hers took huge offense to people that listened to music before they were born. So since I love the Beatles he would make snide comments all the time that they were around before I was born so I could not be  a fan and if he saw anyone young wearing t-shirts...

    Freaks No More

So most stories seem to point to their family for their love of music; I'm not really sure if that's true for me. Sure mum taught me that Blondie is the most beautiful woman on Earth and there will never be another Stevie Nicks, but I tend to think I'm just a product of my...

    I Don’t Know About The Freak Part…

…at least not for appreciating music older than myself. I grew up listing to the oldies station, and moved on to country from there. I started listening to alternative around the time that the Red Hot Chili Peppers came out with Under the Bridge. I did not appreciate the Oldies...

    Music Of All Times

I don't restrict myself to only one type of music, that would be annoying.I like all kind of music,I'm a music lover! For me it does not matter from which time the music is,it's only important that I enjoy the music,to feel the music... Old,new...these are only restrictive terms...

I Really Get Made Fun Of.

My own mom makes fun of my music choices.  She got my ipod out and said, "B, have you been listening to the Delilah show or something?? Eww."  If a song is more than two months old, my sister will say, "That's like, really old."  So, my family picks on me alot...

Freak? Yes, But Not For This

I'm not sure why people are surprised when they find out I listen to music that is older than me. It's as if they think if I didn't hear it on the radio the first time around or buy the vinyl then I couldn't possibly know about it. And plenty of people listen to classical music...

    Classic Rock? Oh Yeah!

I'm 19 and in college, yet Classic Rock is my all time favorite music genre ever. Some people find that weird. Oh well, let them think what they want to think. I grew up around 70s and 80s music and never had an issue singing to it in the car with my parents as I was growing up...
