I Listen to Npr

Personal Stories, Advice, and Support 140 People

I listen to NPR through the Philadelphia

station. Does anyone else feel like their station is selling out? Seems like there's more stuff about celebrities then ever before.

I Can't Stop At This Point.

It's like a symbiotic relationship at this point. I get in the car and it's the first thing pop on. Now I love music, but I'll mostly hook up my iPod and hit shuffle (my ADHD issues). I just love the stories and I feel a bit sharper after listening to Fresh Air, All Things...

    It Makes My Day

in the mornings when I used to drive to work, I'd listen, and it made the world seem like a much more civilized place.  Now, my schedule is different, and I still listen whenever I can in the car, but I also download selected NPR podcasts to listen to while I travel.

I have to admit, I'm addicted to NPR.   I can't remember the last time I had a day without some of it. I don't listen all day  every day ..... anymore  haha but I sure need a dose of it daily. I guess there's a lot worse things one can be an addicted too...

    NPR and I

I listen to BBC World Wide and Morning Edition on my way to work and Talk of the Nation on my lunch breaks. The weekends are spent listening to APHC and Car Talk.

Its pretty much all I ever have on in my car.

Call it boring if you like...but its nowhere near as mind numbing as the dozens of pop princesses who all sound exactly the same. Sorry. I like to stimulate my brain rather than kill it.

You mean there are other stations?  Why??!? OK, I do occasionally wander off to a 50s station if I have folks around who just can't take opera.  But not for long! :-)  E. Bunbury

    Free Range Kids

I heard an interview with Lenore Skenazy, the author of this book and the founder of this movement. It was a great listen. Basically it's about raising self reliant kids and not raising them in fear of something happening to them in today's society. She says out of all the...

    NPR In Small Doses

The local public radio station is in my suite of presets in my car. I enjoy spending a little time with it because there are often so many good stories. But my patience runs thin after a little while and when I catch myself making fun of the trademark NPR snooty northeastern...

I became a supporter of NPR just this year,

but I have been listening to NPR for over twenty years. It was about time to support the station that I listen to the most.

On car trips, I'll turn on NPR and listen for hours. I enjoy the variety of the programming.

    All The Time!

Love NPR, except when, as was noted above, when they beg for money, didn't some very wealthy lady leave them like 400 million dollars a few years ago? You know when you are talking to someone who is liberal (or is at least open to thinking) when the conversation starts with...
